Yes, the global warming/climate change people need to be told that the sea level isn't rising but the coastal cities are sinking under their own weight. 1,000 people per square mile on top of all that concrete and steel. Built on swamp land in some areas, they had to dig to bedrock for a foundation. The garbage landfills probably don't help, just more raised surface area, so the rainfall fills up the reduces flat land. Its possible, among many other things. Plus all the tunneling leads to seepage from ground water and ocean possibly.

There’s more than 8 million people living across the 5 boroughs and there’s construction projects everywhere. This Wendy’s near my house used to have a huge parking lot. All the boroughs (maybe except for Staten Island since it’s disconnected and because it’s more Suburban there and has more forests. And maybe the Bronx since it’s connected to the mainland) will sink or have serious water rising in a hundred years or so or whenever the scientists predict it will. All that land is under water and new lands started popping up to the surface. So, I’m thinking if it’s possible that new lands will be made and will reach the surface a bit higher once all countries or few countries have sinked. (I’m just thinking randomly if this can happen which can be a big threat to humanity)
They better break out the boats then.

WOW! do a story on NY city. Houston has sunk 5/8" from 2014-2020 but 9'10" since 1917. When you pump water and oil from underground the ground sinks. This is happening everywhere and groundwater pumping has already tilted the Earth on it's axis. Taking things out of the Earth and putting them in the atmosphere makes the atmosphere heavier and the earth lighter. A lighter earth can hang on to less atmosphere so it floats off into space. I think they said the moon is drifting away too so less mass of the planet affects that too. The sun will expand and kill earth in a billion years but we will shrink the earth to Mars size unable to hold on to the atmosphere long before that.

Is that the same as sinkholes?

It's called subsidence. California has a lot of land sinking because they pump water from underground but no rain to fill it back up. Sinkholes are small like 100ft across but land sinking is a huge area. I think Florida sinkholes are a break in a sewer line that lets sand wash in and undermine like a parking lot. @@zekejdavidson

I was thinking of a sermon by father Edward Barlow. A bird returns every year to sharpen it's beak on a diamond mountain and eventually the mountain is worn down. The time it took the bird to wear down the mountain is the first second of eternity that had passed. We have 7.5 billion people pecking at the mountain. Most people don't want the express lane to heaven. Depending on Religion you have to lay there until judgement day anyway so why short other people. You have wars famine and a 1000 years of peace to hang out. @@pamelanowak8817

Psh, they do that anyways with all their trash barges. This is for the best.
My mind is blown that parts of NYC are built over trash. Just insane to me how that’s even an acceptable thing to build massive skyscrapers on

The city is surrounded by water so it's likely the ground underneath is wet at times and with the weight of all the buildings it's inevitable that the buildings will push the land down causing more water to sit around and the cycle goes on and on...

Dude they built up parts of New York when they were writing the maps. It hasn’t always looked like that nyc is man made and if something use to exist it was built over Which is exactly what they’re saying: hey these landfills will be built but it will take 200-300 years for that mound of trash to degrade and turn to earth and dirt. And then you get a dipshit who says let’s build major stuff right ontop of those landfills which we know will start as a hill of trash and over years reduce itself to a flat terrain if not cave in on itself and cause a small sinkhole due to improper drainage. They poured concrete and asphalt onto trash not gravel and the rest of the city and parks same deal it was built upon and over and taken down and built back up.
