So cool to see this. My Dad was Director of Operations at Vandenburg back in '67-'71. I had the run of the base and hiked all over south Vandenberg where the Atlas gantrys were located. Mom & Dad retired in Lompoc which became home base for my family. We watched over 100 launches... Minutemen, Titans, and Atlas rockets. It was a great place to grow up for a curious kid who became an engineer.

if we actually faked the moon landing, russia would have pointed it out already. If it made us look like we won the space race, wouldn't they have everything to gain if they proved it was false? It would have destroyed our credibility. But they didn't, which would imply that we actually landed on the moon.

Huge congratulations to NASA, with this launch, you are helping to propel humanity ever closer to that dream of becoming a real space faring civilisation, understanding the nature of Mars and the universe! Other organisations talk a big game about existing for the 'betterment of mankind', like SpaceX with their overpowered satellite-taxis and slick presentations, but NASA is actually going to Mars as we speak! Next step, send humans! (I'll go!)

I wish to be the first living thing on mars. But for now, I can just sit back and watch NASA be amazing.

Why NASA does not still use metric system ? Is not the reason why one of MARS missions crashed in past ?

They use the imperial system for the public relations bit. For NASA's technicians, engineers, scientists, etc., it's Newtons, Joules, Meters and Kelvins all-the-way.

It is fine if their target public is Americans and national tv I guess. SpaceX live broadcast are able to use the world's standards even for public.

Internally, NASA does use metric. The Mars Climate Orbiter was lost because Lockheed used imperial while NASA used metric. However, they use imperial in their broadcasts and press releases because they're meant for American audiences who primarily use imperial.

I feel due to all the movements of aligning the parts to probe the surface will not work as it should. It is to me too complicated of a sequence of events unfolding the needed parts to fit properly. If this works all i can say is we have some very superior engineers and they should have included a solar powered drone or one that would fly all over the planet and take superior close up pictures and video.

The Imperial Units are for the benefit of the American (and Burmese & Liberian) viewing audience. The technicians and scientists behind the scenes are handling things in metric.
