NASA | Evolution of the Moon
Ғылым және технология
From year to year, the moon never seems to change. Craters and other formations appear to be permanent now, but the moon didn't always look like this. Thanks to NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, we now have a better look at some of the moon's history. Learn more in this video!

+Diamond Miner Animaniac It is mostly the crust of the earth. Which, conveniently, allows plate tectonics to be a thing. Because plate tectonics are a thing, the earth can heal itself, unlike the moon. Check out the giant impact theory.
Our Earth has even more gravity, so it's been hit even more than the Moon. It's just that erosion and plate tectonics has covered up all the impacts on Earth, except for a few.

Gamer Carnage Not quite, the Moon is rather small, and serves as a poor shield to our (by comparison) enormous Earth. In addition to this, it’s rather far from us, and so many asteroids would have zoomed in towards the Earth from other directions, and missed the Moon entirely. Our planet has been bombarded far more than our Moon has, but because of its geological activity, most of the impact craters have been erased and renewed with the crust over time. The Moon on the other hand, is (geologically) dead, and so it has no method of clearing its surface, which is why we see so many craters on it. Love your pfp btw. 😃👍

@@nigelbarragan1908 in addition., Earth have natural protection layers. Which cause small meteors burn completely in sky. Read all atmospheric layers and their qualities. From entering from space. Nigel Barragan but typically asteroids come from the outer solar system and the moon would usually be the first thing they encounter. And, yes, I am suggesting that at one time there was only a small star, growing, eventually a heliosphere was formed (probably soon after the initial formation of the Star (the birth). As the heliosphere flexed outward (grew), the outer asteroid belt began to form (spat from the Sun, suspended between the Sun and Heliosphere). It grow more, and the diameter began to be so great, that even slight outward growth of the heliosphere influenced larger asteroids - Dwarf planets, followed by planets.
Fantastico!

Satesfying :)
Brilliant.
I always thought the mares were the way the whole moon once looked and its just the rest of the moon that was disproportionately pummeled because that angle of attack is less likely because the earths gravity protects it. I mean it's a relatively narrow corridor around the earth for which an object can hit the direct facing portion of the moon. The original volcanism and tidal forces of the mares over the whole surface causing the tidal locking of it's rotation in the first place.
Well this changed my whole prospective of the moon
Amazing

Poor moon
Thank you for the advice, it's very hard to come by. The thing is, I am using a 42" screen and it just keeps getting easier and easier. I used to use different images of the Moon, and some drawings, then I found this Mo image. If you were sitting with me as I am doing these overlays, you would be shocked too see that they are more than just patterns. My problem is narration, and video editing. It would be great to get a team of researchers together, I guarantee it would be worth it.
