I respect that, but I think you're underestimating Preemo. I think he has been curating the KD/Magic series while keeping his ear sharp. From Griselda to the Dogg Pound, Preemo outside. He has the jazzy flow that works with Nas, and I think there are going to be some surprises. Nas brought out Em, Dre, AZ, Mega, Lauren, EPMD, and the younger dudes. Is there anyone who wouldn't come if he called for this? Highly doubtful.

Same. Nas is my all-time favourite rapper and Premo my all-time favourite producer but I have to agree that I like Wise Up more than Define My Name but I have BOTH on repeat! This is a great year for Hip Hop period and I'm equally excited for both

I also agree with you about preemo and have said this years ago , preemo hasn't dropped anything good as a producer since the first phryme album / tori wolf debut, who most people slept on . Over the years He's done alot of mid stuff for griselda, drake , joey badass, but he's done some recent heaters in the past couple of months for russ, chance the rapper , and snoop, meanwhile Pete has been dropping full projects with new school artists like flee lord, smoke dza, skyzoo. I'm more interested right now to hear a common and pete full album.

Common and Pete was unprecedented. Nas an premo have a much bigger challenge that simply just jellin at the perfect time. Com an rock are doing their nas hit boy boy thing right now. I honestly feel like the pressure is 99% on premo an nasty. Com an Pete are just having a great time making music.

Common voice and tone sounds very similar to CL Smooth at times. I think that's why it fits so well.

Listening to Wise up and Dreamin I coudnt help but sit back and imagine CL Smooth laying vocals over those beats and in my head it sounded so perfect. Not knocking Common. Lonnie is damn dope on those tracks but how I wish Pete and CL could let bygones and give us old heads something. Loving this music coming out with the legends doing it. Run the Jewels, Masta Ace and DJ Polo, Pete and Common, Nas and Preemo and Nas and Hitboy. I agree. I think Pete has been the sharper production in recent times. Preemo's 1up is that he's working with Nas. Unless Preemo has some face melting joints in his bag, I give the edge to Pete.

Shout out Eeze mentioning the Audio Engineer. 🫡 I agree with you, that Wise Up song is bananas, slight edge better than Define My Name. But definitely looking forward to both Albums. And they are locked in. Doing interviews together. Nas learned alot from Hitboy and he definitely gonna bring that to the table with Premier. What a time to be Alive though as a 49 year old Hip Hop Head. Nas and DJ Premier, Common & Pete Rock, LL Cool J dropping, DPG dropping WAWG, Rakim about to drop. Common work great on Soul samples. It's Your World by JDilla is a perfect example. Tomorrow they dropping Dreaming. I listened to that clip X amount of times. Pete is up but Premier just gotta be 92 Premier.

Both, but I'll go with Pete & Common. I haven't waited as long as I've been waiting for Nas & Preemo album.

Nas is the greatest rapper alive and common is my favourite rapper ever soooo. Dj premier my favourite producer of all time and the greatest. To put it simply we are blessed with both give thanks 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.

As the biggest Preemo fan, initially I would've picked Nas & Preemo first. As much as everyone goes on about the Nas beat choices for his albums, the Preemo ones always used to stand out and be fire! The only issue i have now is, i've felt for the last few years that Preemo has changed his style slightly or at least the drums selections he uses, they dont seem as hard hitting as the earlier familiar Preemo sound, so i'm not sure if it would sound as good now as it would've if they done it back then. If we get some Nas is Like, Enemy, 6th Sense type stuff then yeah... but i'm not sure we will. I'm actually skeptical that it'll happen at all even though they mentioned it! All that being said, just the thought of Common and Pete Rock hooking up when first announced had me excited! After hearing that Tryin track... i cannot wait for that shit!!!

I prefer “Wise Up” over “Define My Name” but I am excited for both albums. Plus I’m also excited that Pete Rock and Common’s next single “Dreaming” drops tomorrow, heard a snippet on IG, and I’m digging it so far

As much as I love the Nas & Premo collab idea… Pete Rock’s production is much better today. Premo’s mixing on every track he’s been doing lately has been so week and makes it sound dated. I personally want a Nas & Pete Rock album next which would be what the world wanted from Nas & Premier 20 years ago

I've been loving Pete's production as of late. I really think "wise up" was something he had in mind for Nas knowing it would never come together and gave it to Common, almost like a shot at Nas like "yeah, you hear this" Nas n Preem "Define My Name" was solid but the jawn "Beat Breaks" they did is super underrated, they both go off on it. Can't wait for both albums.

We're actually getn 2 full lengths from Preemo this yr. That's if PRhyme 3 drops like he said it is. The Nas album is most likely dropn in the fall or end of yr. And I agree somewhat. Comm & Pete may be more "colorful" with the Sound, but man........there's a lot of putn Preem out ta Pasture these days. Podcasts thru-out dont hav any faith in Premier anymore. I believe he steps up to the Challenge. We'll see.

And like you said unless preemo goes in the vault and pulls out beats from the 90's gang starr era circa 92- 98, even nas himself won't be able to save this project, I already think the album is 25 years too late in the making. But anything can happen, nas has had a serious resurgence, we haven't seen no artist in hip hop with this run late In their career at 50 years old, so I will give nas the benefit of the doubt, it's up to preemo to hold up his end.

Your opinion is Valid. However you are going by what they have done in the past. At this point, I think Nas and Premo might surprise us on the music, the production and features.

I wouldn't say common has one of the best top 5-7 discographies all time, I think there are more artists that have better like ghostface killah, sean price , T.I., rick ross ,but common does have multiple classics , alot of heads think he just has one great album and thats simply not true , imo

Im anticipating both as a hip hop purist, but on a whole Pete Rock's my guy. He's always been, but I love Preemo as well. I will be honest tho...I'm a bit concerned with the Premier/Nas album for a few reasons. Those two did such great work together in the past. Great to a point that the bar of expectations are so high, it may not be able to be passed because of what we remember from them. The other thing is Premier's approach to production has changed a lot...to the point its like hit or miss sometimes for me so qe dont know. Like a NaS/Premier album between 99-00's would've been bananas. Even in 05 when they teased it in the Scratch mag would've been good but now...IDK. Im goin by the last few records. The break beat joint and Defines My Name. I listened for maybe a week then I never quite went back to it repeatedly. We'll see tho. Im not worried about NaS (lyrically) but I hope we get vintage Premier that taps into the essence and not Beats That Collected Dust vol 3 Preemo 🤞🏽. Im not worried about Pete or Common either. So far "Trying", "Wise Up" and "Dreamin" hits the mark. Lets see tho and revisit the topic once the music touches down.

I’m a life long Nas fan, always been my favorite artist of all time. On the other hand Pete Rock has always been my favorite producer. For me, I personally feel like I’m going to be looking for Premo and Nas do something better than what they’ve done. They’ve already set the bar while Common and Pete will be something new (in a sense). I think you’ve made fantastic points and I cannot disagree. Common and Pete Rock have the edge on this one.
