You are seeing it right now in front of your eyes these days. Look at all these rappers who put out generic work and floss. The record companies exploit them so bad. Glad he set the record straight. If he was doing Nas dirty Nas would've been vocal about it over the years. But Nas has never talked ill about Serch. You have to understand when Nas came into the game he was heavily protected by Queens dudes who had skin in the game including MC Serch. He was/is a once in a lifetime talent & was shepherded thru the legal/corporate realm in a manner to ensure the business aspect of the industry didn't corrupt his craft. Peace to Serch, LP, Akinele & the others who watched over him during his infant stages in the biz. Even Steve Stoute who's known to be on snake time did right by Nas.

No what he described is the difference between being an employee and an entrepreneur. When you don't have a pot to pissss in it's hard to work for free to soak up all the game because you need money to pay bills so people will take the quick employee cheque. This is about wealth buying you the time needed to STUDY THE BUSINESS. There is NOTHING inherently wrong with our people. So nice try trying to make it something its not...and look like you're trying to employee shame. SMH! Both are valuable. Yo, Serch is a f'n legend. I met him at an after party of a Davenport, Iowa concert in '87. That man was a good man and prolly still is. He was the only artist there that night that chilled in the hallway of the hotel with fans. He was prolly jus keepin us kids from going in to the rooms because they were smoking an all. My cousin and her friend went in, but I was too young. Either way, he is the first rapper I ever met and talked to. He worked too hard to get a chance to do something that he loves to do. I'm sure he wouldn't mess it up by f'n over the culture that gave him an opportunity to express himself. Serch has shown nothing but love and respect to hip hop and the Black community. Us as Black people are too hard on the ones that are down for us. That's why so many people bail on us. Serch is an exceptional man to still be rockin wit us after all these years.
