What Nas is doing is unprecedented. Very few artists of any genre have had such an amazing late career run, I'm in awe of his artistry. He has an unassailable lead as the greatest of all time. He's lapped all the other contenders multiple times at this point.

Even if Nas didn't release King Disease III. He has cemented himself as a Hip Hop Icon. Some rappers won't even make 21 years in the culture let alone 30 years like Nas. To make matters make even more sense some artists have to use Nas' name to get attention to remain relevant.

I think also younger Nas would go to deeper and more radical places in his content with songs like "Amongst kings", "We're not alone", "Last words", "I wanna talk to you", etc where he's talking about government corruption, history, spirituality, conspiracies, etc...current Nas doesn't push that envelope as much...

The crazy thing about Joe's take is that Nas is such a better more skilled rapper at 49 than 19. He has far more range now. It's just that illmatic was a precise soundtrack and mood for 1994/95 both in Hip Hop and black America... What makes illmatic untouchable is the actual year it came out. Shit, the Million Man March happened in 1995, because the streets were so hot, violent and overall illmatic!

I definitely been feeling this about Nas recently. Not necessarily in a bad or negative manner. But you can just sense when he's holding back. Especially on the track "30" where he comes in just SNAPPING and rapping his ass off....and then just stops....after 1 verse and talks as the beat bleeds out. He definitely had a few more rounds in the chamber for that track.

Nas has dropped: Illmatic IWW Stillmatic God's Son The Lost Tapes Life Is Good KD1 KD2 KD3 Magic I mean, what artist is competing with this discography? I even left out his good albums such as I Am, Street's Disciple and HHID! It has to be common knowledge now that Nas is the greatest of all time and has been for a while.

Art is always relevant, Everyone in the game should be striving to be an artist. Unfortunately some of these rappers follow the gimmick route and try to claim to be of the herds and claim herd status. To question a true artist’s relevance is a mere act towards lowering the bar for that particular herd that they’re comfortable in. How relevant is that? Be an artist and know someone is always listening so dare to be great.

KD3 is the better overall album but none of the songs can mess with 4 songs on KD2 like EPMD, YKTV, Rare, and Nobody feat Lauryn Hill! However 30 for 30 is the best song on KD3, I like: Michael & Quincy, hood2hood, Recession Proof, WTF SMH, Beef has words that every Rapper and Gangster should hear, Get Light, First Time, & Til my Last Breath. A lot of Bangers 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
