An interesting note about Jesus saying to forgive "seventy times seven times" is that the numerical symbolism behind seven is "perfection" and seventy being ten times seven carries the symbolism of ten which is "completeness". This means that forgiveness towards a brother who repents should be continuous, total, and perfect.

You know I knew 7 was the perfect number, but I never made that connection. Great to know

@@retr0836 but we are called to try. Strive for perfection in submission to God, humbly acknowledge that you cannot achieve it with your own strength in your sinful flesh, and let God handle the rest, trusting in his love and mercy.

Of course forgiveness plays an imp role to stop this hatred cycle but the person who is hurting you also needs to understand your pain in order to value your forgiveness. Not everyone in this world values others forgiveness instead they will use this kind of people. Please someone correct me if i am wrong or provide me a valid answer

Nagato started to respect Naruto only after he defeated Pain. Whole philosophy was based on a concept that to get motivation on gathering more power one must first meet the pain of loosing, therefore the best motivator is revenge, therefore powerful people will always seek revenge. By refusing to kill Nagato, Naruto broke that cycle and allowed him to believe in alternative solution. To be fair, one instance doesn't defeat the function. As shown in Boruto, conflicts still arise in the next generation.

Pain is easily the best villian in shonen although obito is better more as a foil to naruto, pain definitely challenges narutos philosophy. also, it also doesn’t help that pain had yahiko died so his philosphy went from inherting jirayias beliefs to straight up disagreeing with his philosophy

The big 3, are not given the credit they deserve, each one has a diffrent philosophy told in a unique way, One Piece fight for want you believe in, even of can cost you your life, Naruto forgive others especially when it hurts, Bleach protect what is important to you.

I think it's because a lot of people watched it when they were younger and not as mature of sophisticated so we associate it by proxy with immaturity. They are very good stories

This can apply to racial tensions in the United States. We could easily forgive each other and stop holding the past and current hatred and wrongdoings over each other’s heads and call a truce, but thanks groups like BLM and other political extremists, that’ll never happen.
