I really love seeing all your colored pencils laying out so carefully arranged and ready for service. You prepare your tea and biscuits carefully, too, and then open your journal and turn through the previous pages so we can enjoy their beauties again. We also noticed today that your coolant looks to be below the minimum level instead of between the minimum and maximum lines on the tank. Hope you have a good week!

When we had our engine issues the engineer advised that our coolant in our expansion bottle need only be enough to show that there is coolant present but the level in the engine itself needs to be at the top; if that makes sense? I believe that you can do whatever you set your mind to if you want it badly enough. There are so many friendly boaters to help you if you need anything too. This week, I couldn't get the gas valve to shift when I was changing my gas and it was taking me ages; then a dog walker went past the boat and I asked them if they could help me- they were so happy to help and they managed to loosen it too which was great. Good evening ! My only experience of living on a boat has been Norfolk Broads holidays with friends early 1960s ! I loved it despite a few mishaps ! Toilet 'arrangements' then were everything got pumped manually straight out into the waters ! Not very nice but thats how was it was ! I too have been searching for Cinnabar Moth larvae & now they are showing in good numbers ! Slowly bees & other insects are showing but nothing like in should be numbers ! Lime trees with their tiny flowers were wonderful as usual & I usually hear the multitude of bees upon them yards before I reach ! Hardly a bee to be seen! Only other boating apart from canoes in Greenwich park as a kid were rowing a Skiff on The Serpentine, early 60s in London, hardly counts but I loved doing something I was good at! Thank you for another lovely video report !

It must be wonderful to be back home aboard your narrow boat, with nature just outside your porthole window, birds singing, and the easy-going pace and joy of cruising the waterways once again. So nice to see your back. You know, I believe there's a right moment for everything. Being in the right place at the right moment is actually everything. Changes will always come. The nicest thing here is you have a choice, to live the narrow boat life, or sell everything and be in a home. There's always pros and cons in whatever you may decide. The important thing is to be happy...😊 I on the other hand have an entirely different situation. I was in California with a wonderful job, a partner, and friends, a whole life... 5 years ago I was on the phone with my parents which live on the outskirts of Madrid and I for the first time in ages felt how alone they felt, and that they actually needed help in various ways. They are at that age where they now need tending to. It all surprised me, caught me off guard! I could not sleep at night thinking how alone they felt! Just daily chores, and grocery shopping, house cleaning, and doctors appointments with both not being able to drive themselves anywhere anymore! My heart sunk, and tears came to my eyes knowing that within a week of that phone call I would have to leave absolutely everything in California so I could be with them to help out with all the necessary things. Knowing that I would have to sacrifice everything I Know, everything I have, and leaving my partner as well. But She understood that our lives were about to change completely. It was so difficult !! I wished her all the happiness, and that I had to do this for my parents as they've done so much for me... Well, it's been 5 years now, they thank me every day although they know what I have sacrificed in order to be there for them. Such is life. Every now and then I go sight seeing with my motorcycle to see the nice things in Spain. But yeah, been a lone wolf 🐺 all this time, I don't go out, and have no friends out here... But I believe that in life things happen for a reason, I'm sure to find myself again when they've passed on... For now, I'm happy I can be there for them.. So sorry, I digress oops!😊

The one word that comes to mind the most is "peaceful". My observations from watching your video and others is, It is a slower life, but ironically a more active one. It's good for you physically, mentally, emotionally, and even perhaps spiritually. Engaging nature like you do is part of why it's so healthy. Cities use technology and industry to push nature away and keep it at a distance, while your lifestyle embraces nature and lives with it. It's pretty wonderful really, when you think about it, that in today's world it's possible to live life this way. What a blessing it is that you share this with us, and in such a beautiful and engaging way!

So glad you have made the choice to continue your lifestyle on the Alice Grace. My Fridays would not be the same without your videos along with a few thousand others I think. I so love watching you and Zeph enjoying life to the full. I notice you dressed more warmly this time. Right now here in Shelton it’s 93 degrees so I sort of envy you the cool weather. I can see it’s a lot of work to keep up your floating home and garden but you manage it with such class and style take care and have a great rest of the week.

Yes the pace is very different. When we lived on our boat, we were so shocked by car speeds when we ventured onto a road. Even at 30 mph! Once we lived in a house I was entranced by being able to switch lights on and run the washing machine, at the same time 🤣🤣🤣

Love your videos but have to say the most amazing thing is that where I live in the States, the temperature today was in the mid 90's F.... and you're running around in a down filled hooded jacket! So glad your heart still belongs to the narrowboating life!

If I had the money I'd like to own a Narrow Boat and a House. Preferably with a little Pier on the back yard leading to my Boat in the Canal at the bottom of the Garden. Yes ! I don't ask for much. I'm too old to change my ways and I might want to live alone if I were to live on a Narrow Boat which may not go down too well with certain people. I can see you Love the life you are leading as you tell us so with your smile. I'm happy for you and happy you bring us a glimpse into your life with your wonderful Video's. I can understand about sleeping better on a boat. After many years of long distance trucking across north America i would park my rig at the far upwind end of the truckstop open the windows of a large sleeper bunk. Fresh air and the wind would rock the sleeper and slept like a big baby. I think that's the part i miss the most about trucking. And the geography also. I really loved longhaul trucking for those reasons. Never the same load and never the same destination. You kind of remind me of all that. The roads were my canals. Love your videos. 👌🇨🇦 👍

I understand your thoughts... I live full time in a caravan (RV) in America. During my travels I often wonder if I should continue or live in a proper house, and then travel part-time. Indeed, they are 2 different lifestyles. Following your channel and your journey along the canals brings me peace. Really enjoy watching your narrowboat adventures.

Another super video Vanessa, I found your comment about sleeping better on the boat interesting, as I've been watching Robbie Cummings, who says the opposite, as he is always aware of noises and movement outside. I was walking down the canal in Middlewich yesterday and called for a glass of wine at The Big Lock, whilst watching the boaters negotiate the lock itself.

Dear Vanessa and Zephyr, You are right, there are advantages to either living on water or living on land. Should you ever get to the stage when living on land looks good, do your self a favor and rent a place before giving up Alice Grace. You might realize, very quickly, that you currently have the best of both worlds on Alice Grace. Zephyr would also have to be considered. Your "WOBBLE" list is definitely a great way to remember the checks before setting off. May I share that with Izzie and Ciara who have Lavender Lee, I am sure it would help them?? By the looks of things your wonderful garden will be bright and beautiful soon enough if it hasn't shown signs already. You are truly an amazing woman with many talents, thank you for all you share. Hello Vanessa - greetings from Poland They say a change is as good as a rest. It seems you had both! It's lovely to be back with you on Alice Grace. The thought of no more Mindful Narrowboat and everything that goes with it, would be a disaster. I am so happy that your decision is to remain a boater, enjoying the peace and tranquility of canal life. A lovely video, with so much to see. The wildlife, flora and fauna is beautiful along and ajacent to the canal. Canal life suits you and Zephyr, but like everone else, you need a change and a rest sometimes.

So sorry you're garden took a dive while you were gone. Doesn't it just figure you don't get the rain needed while you were gone. Hopefully you can rescue one or two, but the new plants look pretty, love lavender. It's good and just that industry makes an effort to repair the damage done by their operations. Excellent having you and doggie back. We’ve missed you. Vetus is a super brand of diesel engine and mechanical marine supplies. Ive had two sailboats on the upper Chesapeake while living in Annapolis both with Yanmar diesel engines. Also very reliable and long lasting albeit a bit more expensive. You have been doing a brilliant job single handing through the rivers, canals and locks of Great Britain. So much to do, so much to learn. Thank you for everything….Joe in Cape May, US.

Hi Joe, it sounds like you know your engines well. I travel with my husband although he works away a lot. He can't be in the vlogs as he works in education and with vulnerable families so it would be breaking his code of conduct to be on social media.
