I enjoy Napoleon and Napoleonic French Military. But. Let's be real. Old Guard was like Triarii of pre-Marian Rome. They sound good on paper, but actually a unit designed to make (old) guard retire peacefully on the back of the battle line. They are not better than other veteran infantry, they just has the name. If you had to commit Old Guard, you already lost the battle. We talk about how Old Guard were such a strong and determined unit, but historically, they are as easy to defeat as any other slightly above average soldier.
