Before this movie, the director Jared Hess made a short film called “Peluca” where the characters are very similar to this movie, but the central point was that one of the guys shaved their head and needed a wig. So I think maybe that’s why they put it in.

Your reaction to this movie is about the same as everyone's... which is what makes it such a classic. First time I tried to watch it, I got through maybe fifteen minutes then turned if off. Second time, a friend suggested I watch it all the way through, loved it ever since. As quirky as some of the characters were in this, they learn, grow and have a happy ending, which is part of what makes it so endearing. There have been disucssions over the years with its stars about making a sequel, but nothing has come out of it. As you mentioned, the 'lightning in a bottle' would be hard to catch again and I think that's why it's never happened.

  • @tomcattvreacts

Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Ashley Jackson and Emily Kennard Dunn. Twin Twist Fact: Both Jon Heder and Efren Ramirez, who play the lead characters in the movie, have an identical twin. Extra Extra Fact: The movie featured one of the longest credited cast lists in movie history; all 181 student extras' names are listed in the closing credits. Arts And Crafts Fact: Jon Heder drew all of the drawings in the movie except the unicorn. Jon Heder also helped to make the boondoggle keychains between scenes. What Script Fact: Due to the film's surprise success at festivals and in its limited release, Fox Searchlight re-edited the film to add a five-minute epilogue at the end. This epilogue, which was filmed after the initial theatrical run, features a surprise "wedding scene" that cost about half of what the entire feature cost to make. Power Of Editing Fact: The movie was edited in producer Jeremy Coon's apartment using a $6,000 Macintosh with Final Cut Pro. For Napoleon's dance routine, director Jared Hess had Jon Heder improvise and dance to three different songs. Hess then took the "best" moves from each song and put them in one routine, using one song.
