First time I seen him was on heavy metal festival compilation dvd from way back (still have it) . . it was like an punk rock original , was impressed by the raw energy
I find Barney to be facinating. When you see him and hear him talk he seems like the least metal person ever. But when he's performing... OMG What energy! He looks like if he ever stops shouting he's going to explode. It's amazing to still have that energy after all these years.

Barny is one of the best vocal in extreme metal. Yes that guy who looks like typical good fathers!
When I was growing up and started listening to Napalm Death in the late 80's/early 90's, Napalm Death was seriously one of the hardest bands in the world. Cannibal Corpse, Carcass, Goreguts, Bolt Thrower, and Napalm Death were the hardest bands around. They were really one of the pioneers of modern death/black metal, and they deserve credit where it is due.

All Lyrics: Life and Limb(ends at 3:55) Push the envelope further from reality Banishing the hope, interrogating strategies Inhumane aggression, isolation jails Forcing a confession when all else fails To stand in judgement of a so-called offender That represents immortal behaviour Push the envelope from the civilised norm Push the envelope, catastrophic storm Stripped of life and limb by this torture germ Stripped of life and limb just for standing firm Naked and bound, pain and consideration Extremely profound, grotesque cooperation Cruelly implied, no sense of divide Particular intensity, deception and lies To stand in judgement of a so-called offender That represents immortal behaviour Government task force questioning the source Widespread abuse Innocent victims of power misuse Push the envelope from the civilised norm Push the envelope, catastrophic storm Stripped of life and limb by this torture germ Stripped of life and limb just for standing firm Psychological intimidation Traditional methods of interrogation Polluting our culture, it's prolific, outright For nothing more than specific insight A dire killing thrust To satisfy the lust When beaten to their death Lingering aftermath Diktat(ends at 7:31) To have and hold for all eternity" Limitations and ambitions are a pretext to falling short We'll be doomed, marooned and two fatalities Anomalies in whispered circles For pledges we could never hope to fulfil But if it works for you Then it works because of you Not a diktat from a guild For who love is (unflinching) servitude Castigate or deprecate - they want heads hung in shame When a union runs its course For pledges we could never hope to fulfil Irrepressible, irresponsible love Is the wild-eyed antitote to cold imperatives Love is the wild-eyed antidote To cold imperatives Love is like the last day you'll ever live So why lose that spark When our paths begin to merge? It's the yoke of absolutes - those pledges We could never blight in compliance Love is the wild-eyed antidote to cold imperatives Love has since been hi-jacked to tether down its whims Obey, obey, obey so the passion dilutes Obey, obey, obey, obey, obey, obey, obey Perhaps under angry clouds of the imagined higher force Refrain, refrain, refrain From ending on a high note Refrain, refrain, refrain, refrain Refrain, refrain, refrain Perhaps under angry clouds of the imagined higher force Perhaps it's this and other such constraints From which we must divorce When all is said and done(last song) Blindness feeds the world to madness Faith's crumbling, there's no doubt about it Religion and science fighting a new kind of war Helpless - wander the streets in desperation Fearless - to the path they tread Shameless - the powers that butcher Ignorant to the deeds that they commit When all is said and done Heaven lies in my heart No slave to beliefs that propagate pain When all is said and done Heaven lies in our hearts This life is a gift to be lived and loved Fracturing the structure of nature Iconic catalysts to slaughter A stalemate bursting bound by contradictions Heartless - divine blueprints of hatred Selfless - Diseased master plans Shameless - the powers that butcher Ignorant to the deeds that they commit Decoded treachery shielding the tyranny Black Bible tyrants behind masks of righteousness Relentless - the onslaught of misunderstanding Descending into a unified chaos One more chance for a shot at redemption Lost within, can we summon the might?
Reminds me of a time the world was more honest, really, it has me in tears. We will need this strength in 2024 people, or we're all finished.
There is nothing to compare of this pure death metal godfather. Unpretentious truth metal band ever.

One of the best bands in the world.
His voice is brutal! The first napalm death song I ever listened to was "I abstain". I got crushed by so much energy and the sound of the band was something I couldn't believe.
Rumor is Barney's vocals are so loud and raw they clip the microphone/speakers so they have to turn it down, dead serious. I also love that most people in the audience have no idea what's going on our how to headbang to this. Just let loose, this music is supposed to make you want to smash everything arund you. When I finally saw Napalm Death in October 2019 in Syracuse NY the audience had the same reaction. I was in awe and had to make sure that yes, what I was seeing and hearing on stage was as crazy as it sounded.
Just knew their t-shirt logo and one song…now i f'ing love them. my band for the apocalypse
