Hello! I’m going to Nantes pretty soon to start my bachelor, but I’ve been doing some research and it seems Nantes is not a safe city, would you say that as well?

Hello Ericka, I've been living in Nantes all my life and I also traveled around the world for a while. Safety is truly a relative thing, I personally never had any problem in Nantes, and compared to many cities I've been to I would tend to say that Nantes is still a safe city. I feel totally fine walking in every part of the city during the day. However, Nantes is one of the most attractive french city and its population is growing rapidly, and so are the social inequalities. This means that at nightime, usual precautions needs to be taken. And especially as a woman, I think it's better to avoid walking alone for too long in the city center. But again, this is not specific to Nantes, it can be applied to every major city imho.
