Nanotechnology College Course: Lesson 01 - Nanocars, molecular electronics & start-ups

Ғылым және технология

Join Dr. James Tour, a distinguished NAE Chemist from Rice University, for a comprehensive and free nanotechnology course!
Lesson 01
What does Jerry Seinfeld have to do with business and nanotechnology?
• Introduction to Nanotechnology Applications: The lecture discusses innovative uses of nanotechnology, such as using graphene nanoribbons to repair spinal cord injuries in rats, showcasing the potential for medical breakthroughs.
• Encouraging Creativity in Students: The course emphasizes the importance of consistent creativity, inspired by Jerry Seinfeld's method of daily joke writing. Students are tasked with inventing something new every week to foster innovative thinking.
• Examples of Nanotechnology Innovations: Various nanotechnology-based inventions are highlighted, including advanced clutches using ferrofluids and materials that can absorb CO2 from plastic waste.
• Historical Context and Key Figures: The lecture provides historical context about the development of nanotechnology, mentioning influential figures like Richard Feynman, Rick Smalley, and Michael Roco, and their contributions to the field.
• Networking and Opportunities: Students are encouraged to leverage their current access to influential individuals and build a network of contacts, emphasizing the long-term value of these relationships for their careers.
A variety of topics related to chemistry and nanotechnology will be discussed. Some topics are classical while others are current. Topics may include nanocars, molecular electronics, how to form a start-up company.

I'm an inventor , I'm always improvising , I have built four motorbicycles they are all my own design , it took me a while to build the first one but through trials and a few errors I came up with a model that I rode for three years , 80 miles to a gallon of gasoline , 49cc motor , and up to 30 to 35 mph , now I know what works and what doesn't. I love science and I love JESUS , I firmly believe that HE taught me everything I learned and when I get stuck I ask the Holy Spirit for directions and I become inspired again , I can't do nothing without HIM ❤❤❤

Thing is, some fighter jocks never survive their first real encounter with an enemy. Others go on to become aces, and some just fall in between. It's a combination of sheer luck and inherent skill. Even the best ace in the world can be shot down if things go completely wrong. At that point, skill no longer plays a very big role. James Tour debate tactics: (1) Draw some chemistry mechanism on the blackboard that nobody asked for and doesn't explain anything (2) Point the chalk at Dave and scream at him to do something with it, whatever that is (3) When Dave shows recent scientific literature disproving you, just scream that he didn't do something with your blackboard diagram (4) Write "clueless" beside each of your pre-written topics like you were going to do anyway, no matter what Dave said (5) Did I forget screaming? Make sure to tack on the screaming. credit to Keithman3

Can't say that it has ever helped me all that much! Most people don't care about what you know or what you can do! You have to shove your ideas down their throat before they pay attention and when they do they just steal it and make a cheap knock off! I just don't have that much interest it that aspect of inventing!

I wonder if they said that about fire...technological innovation is often driven by the need for self preservation. Man is responsible for how that technology is used..for good or evil. Unfortunately, the heart of man is desperately wicked...which is why men try to enslave other men and bend them to their will. Only those Jesus the Christ will ultimately be free.
