I look at Ms. Wilson and recall how as a teenager my sister and I were often told we looked like Ms. Wilson. I think it was in the hair and our little brown skins. Just a couple of weeks ago a gentleman who used to be a stage manager for Ms. Wilson in New York stopped me and said "Honey you look exactly like Ms. Wilson". I blushed. I'm only moderate attractive I guess but to hear a comparison to this great woman all my life, I am pretty much proud. She was and is so elegant. : )

@@merianpeterson5073 .... I'm 71 years old now. One of the first albums I bought at 13 years old was Nancy Wilson. I would sit on the arm of the armchair next to our combo record player and radio and sing all of her songs with her. Over and over again. Her voice encompassed it ALL. I wanted to be her when I grew up. Not a nurse, not a secretary...but Nancy Wilson! Being a white girl that was a tough one, but never thought about it. Plus....I couldn't sing a note that didn't send shivers down my neighbors spines (and my poor tolerant mother!). I guess the point is, I adored her and at my age of 13 she impressed me with cool, calm and beauty. I loved "singing" with her! Miss you, singing partner❤

We lost our beautiful Nancy on 12-13-18. Makes me so sad because she was a favorite of mine for so many years! She called herself a "song stylist" and she was so right, she had a style like no other, simply inimitable! RIP, Nancy, and sleep warm. We will miss you. (Thankfully we have her recordings and videos like this.) Andy is gone now too. There were some superb talents back in that era, that were incomparable, and NO one has come forward who is as good or memorable as they were. Music (if you can call it that) by popular singers today, is mostly noise with a banging beat) but fortunately, we have recordings with which to remember them and still admire them.

She just fantastic. I have always been so awed by that phenomenal voice. Just like when she sang My One And Only Love, hearing her sing this song gives me the chills! By the way, Chaka Khan also sang this song, a little differently, but also very well.

On Nancy Wilson's performance of Don't Go To Strangers Remember, Nancy Wilson is the next step in the progression of this art, not to be compared with her predecessors... Ella, Sarah, Day, Christy, Jackson, Sinatra, Como, Exstine, etc. nor with those who followed. It's always the Unfathomable voice of God expressing... blending many preceding expressions, insights, tributes of previous and contemporary expressions. Disconnecting, preferring, comparing singers, musicians, dancers, artists...

See, this is the problem with people who don't have adequate historical or artistic reference points in order to build INFORMED opinions to make themselves at least appear intelligent. I love her facial expressions, and bummedoutforlife is exactly right; It was normal stage etiquette for the day and singers were trained in how to use their hands, faces, etc. Check out Sarah Vaughn et al to get my drift.

oldschool_90s yes sweetie I did say that, you're most obviously younger than myself and are not from black community so you don't know from where I speak...so let me educate you on why I said that...in most black communities during the 40s to the 70s because of racism black people weren't allowed to go too far outside our community without some problems so we learn to socialize and entertain within our environment such as; in churches, in your neighborhood (on your own block), local bars lounge and night clubs etc. In everybody family someone could either sing, dance, play an instrument etc or something that would detract them from every day racist oppression that the black people was experiencing (and still is) at the time. Having said that if one wanted to be a singer they usually started in church singing in choirs and if you were any good you sang lead if not you sang back up. Most dowop groups (men mostly ) started singing on the corner in there neighborhoods, girls usually sang in the school fire towers, their homes, and churches, it wasn't lady like to sing on the corner most parents didn't allow it. So many social events would have variety of different contests and singing was one of them and if a group didn't have style ,flare, fashion and a great lead singer you got booed and laugh off the stage the experience is so devastating that all singing groups made sure they pick the best person in their group to lead, that's just how it was and many singing acts got discovered by having a great lead singer. So the 'Supremes' came from that environment like most black entertainers of that time they learned their craft in the black community and we had high standards for those who wanted to entertain their own people in their own community that standard for excellence was important for black people because we were constantly being told in the media, in everyday life that we were worthless beings, our existence didn't matter, who we were as a race was worthy of extinction so we express and showed our excellent in song, dance, athleticism, science, etc you name it we try to be the best that's why people all over the world copy us, why would they do that if black people was worthless. So that's the standard we stand by..Ms Ross is and entertainer but she's no singer not by black people standards, notice how many non black people emulate her singing abilities and how many non black people emulate Aretha Franklin you see what I'm saying, even non black people know the difference....I hope I have explain myself well and answered your question...chow
