lol I was thinking, "Welcome to the crack section of BTS"

I admire how much the members' English has improved...! In a recent episode of Run BTS (an original series they have on the Vlive app), they were given a segment to one of their songs, which has a mix of Korean and English, and the members' task was to translate the English into Korean (either literally or liberally). Despite their hectic work schedule, the fact that they were able to understand and comprehend as much as they did, I find incredibly inspiring since learning another language is difficult, especially with the English language being as complex as it is.

BTS equals seven You’re right, the members’ ments may have been a better example of improvement in their English skill, but I don’t think my claim should be discredited either since learning another language is difficult, especially when it is completely different to the native language you normally speak. So at their concerts, though the members are speaking the language during their ments while touring, it’s likely that one of their staff had assisted in translating what they wanted to say and the members try to memorize - since their ments are always so genuine, they want to ensure that they get their point across to fans while still trying to connect to them by speaking their language. Whereas, in Run BTS, fans were actually able to see the members interpreting and translating the lyrics on their own. Since the members are involved in the music production process, they know the general meaning of their songs, but they may not be as aware of the other members’ lines and what they mean in comparison to lines that they themselves wrote either for themselves or another.

RM is such a great leader. He always lets and encourage all of every member to speak so they all can be included. Also their English has improved so much.

Just to let you know they know English to some extent but cannot speak it very well like Jin and RM are the best English speakers yet Jin has trouble translating certain words but a basic conversation he can have and well RM is pretty fluent he’s come a long way and Suga knows English pretty well too he says he can’t pronounce the words correctly though he can read and write in English pretty good he’s also said don’t talk in English thinking I won’t understand because I do 😂 but this video is funny because Namjoon (RM) and the members are trolling to some extent and the other half they really don’t know what’s going on 😂 they’re so funny in their natural state which is speaking Korean with bits of English they use here and there .

Hopeeworlddd ! I love how Jin isn't afraid to speak English too! Like in Bon Voyage 3 he's always asking "Do you know BTS?" and even holds a conversation in English with the owner of a bar. I feel like the other members know more than they let on (especially Yoongi), and if they just practiced speaking it more they would get more comfortable and confident. But they have all improved so much in the last few years!!

I think they use when it’s needed of course they don’t always rely on rm like on bon voyage when they were on their friendship trips they somewhat each used English and I know right I’m still so happy the manager talked to jin and told him it’s okay it’s not like I speak Korean 😭 I just re-watched bon voyage s3 and that always touches my heart seeing Jin y’all to the manager . And yes especially yoongi knows English very well he’s often said he can’t pronounce words correctly but he uses it when it’s needed of course 😊

I think DKDKTV put it best when they said that Jin is the classic example of someone who learned English through the korean education system. He knows a lot of English but his accent is heavy because he didn’t learn proper pronunciation. Whereas RM got the advantage of learning proper pronunciation through television.

This is the best reaction I've ever seen of this video. Because I was the exact same when I first saw this video. All I could think was "what the f am I watching?" i love it tho

The problem with American English is we always have a tendency to want to nasalize the “A” sound and pronounce it the way you would in the word “family”. Just always remember, when reading the romanization of their names (or any romanized korean) that the “A” when by itself sounds like that of the English word “father”.

If you’d like you can get to know them more on their Run BTS episodes and V-lives on the V-live app just search their page and you can see their recorded live streams they’ve done where they talk to us or in general and Run BTS episodes and Bon Voyage episodes but you have to pay for the Bon Voyage one there are three seasons and it’s enjoyable to watch them on vacation. As for the Run BTS it’s free and they all have English captions it’s sort of a game show series where they do challenges and play games they’re so funny and you can get to know them more and each personality by watching Run BTS 😊

This is one of my favorite videos. This year on their Love Yourself tour, you could tell everybody's English is MUCH better. RM really encourages the others to speak for themselves more and more. Suga is pretty fluent, but he tends to be shy a nd reserved about it. V, J-Hope, and Jim have advanced a lot. JK and Jimin are much better, but sometimes still struggle a bit. I admire them a lot for their efforts -- they try to do their speeches onstage in the native language of the country they're in (most of them speak some Japanese as well). They have a native translator at shows when they need one, though. Still, this video is adorable. Lol

don't worry about pronunciation, korean language is very difficult and i know the biggest part of the fandom can't pronounce it well cause we're not korean speakers and i think that's totally fine

If you search 'pronounce bts names' you'll find a few helpful videos :D For reference, the Korean a is pronounced ah so his name is properly like Nahm Joon. :D The r & l is the same letter in Korean, and sounds more like one or the other depending on where it is in the word, but that's why 'girl' is a tricky word for them to say. I hear 'ruler' is really hard too.
