"I don’t know why I said Malcolm X. I know he wasn’t a singer. I meant to say someone like ‘Elton John’ or ‘David Bowie’ or something like that. But it is interesting that Malcolm X couldn’t relate to his last name so gave himself the name X. That’s how I know I’m lucky to have been able to keep my Ugandan name. A sign of where I’m from and who I am. That’s why I wanted to call my next album KIWANUKA.........And self titled albums that aren’t debuts sound cool to me. The album is out on the 25th of Oct!"

Your music has meant a huge deal to me over the past year . My brother Michael was murdered this time last year in Dublin, and I kept your song , My cold little heart, on a playlist I created of songs to be played before & after the funeral service , and for me to add to the other playlist of memories Mikey & I . My brother and I liked to discover new talent and share with each other who & what we were listening to, I have listened to you singing every day as I lost my mind in grief. His 1 year Anniversary is in 2 days time on the 25th August 2019, and I want to thank you for all the comfort and the feeling that your beautiful voice, sound & lyrics have given my numbed self over the course of the past year. Even the video to the song , heartwreching though it is to watch , really hit home and made me feel something when I had gone into a depressed numbness. Your music has helped me a lot , through the heartache of having no answers and a lukewarm investigation . Your song could have been written for me. Congratulations on the album, cant wait to hear it all. Love , Respect & Greetings from the UKs south coast tonight. 💚

I fell in love with your music this year. And honestly, after hearing Uzo Aduba’s TED Talk, the first thing that came to mind (after feeling your music so deep) was to learn how to pronounce your last name. This is coming from someone who is Hispanic and has been told over the phone (I work customer service) that I don’t sound Mexican at all (as a compliment?) Little do they know, all my life I tried to make sure I sounded “white” to feel accepted. I’ve been through with that for a bit now. Although my name is Abigail (written the same in English and Spanish), I don’t hide behind my self given nickname of “Abby” anymore. I don’t cringe anymore when Hispanic people call me Abi, that’s what my parents called me growing up and that’s who I really am.
