Namibian Artist John Muafangejo, who trained at Rorke's Drift Art and Craft Centre by Lillian Gray
Muafangejo is considered one of his generation's most important visual artists and Namibia’s most famous artist. He is often thought of as a South African artist. However, he is, in fact, a Namibian. People tend to think of him as South African because he is best known for studying at the Rorke’s Drift Art and Craft Centre in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. It took forever to find photos of the Ovambo tribe and depict them with integrity. I never knew their primary colour was fuchsia pink. They even dye the springbuck skins pink. I hope I did them justice. It was wonderful to travel and learn more about Namibia while honouring Muafangejo.
