Namibia is... GERMAN?!

Yesterday, I arrived in Namibia (my 143rd country!) to start a 10 day tour with G Adventures! But as I've been wandering around the unique capital city of Windhoek, I couldn't help but notice how GERMAN everything feels. Seriously, the culture is bizarre here in Namibia!
As I investigated further, I discovered that Namibia was a German colony (from 1884 - 1915), and despite 103 years of separation since the Germans left, their influence is still deeply rooted in Namibian society today.
I became so fascinated by this German-Namibian culture, because the vast majority of the world that I've seen has been conquered by either the British, French, Spanish, Portuguese or Dutch... Not the Germans.
Here is a fun video I put together today all about my observations on German-influenced Namibia.
Just out of curiosity -- Is this all news to you? Or did you know that Namibia is German-influenced?

@@rothsshvili5125 Man, you are stupid. What has this to do with Third Reich? You tried to do a joke? If so then you failed miserably with your tried funny analogy, because there has been no connection between Third Reich and Namibia, nor between the Third Reich and the German Empire of 1871-1914 which was the time Namibia got German influence. Also the Third Reich wanted all ethnically Germans outside of Germany to come back to Germany and stay there - aka the campaign "Heim ins Reich" - and this is the exact contary of colonialism. Its anti-colonialism. That was because of their ideology and agenda. Racist prick.

I think German should be one of the national languages, Germany pays $ 12 million to Namibia every year, because Germany feels guilty about helping the Namibians. Maybe U Damaras are fond of german culture but as a black namibian I dnt agree with Yr statement. Its false. Majority of us don't even know Germany or Afrikaaner culture except Wika that we see once a year in Windhoek and swakopmund. Pls don't mislead the world. Speaking a language does nt mean u like a country. Many people speak English, Spanish and French in africa and world but does it mean they love England, Spain and France? No. Anyway, Namibia doesn't have a problem with Germany except genocide history. Drew binsky was just surprised coz he never knew out of ignorance that Germany had colonies around world. Thus I'd they had colonies, so is the architecture.

It's important to note that Germans didn't leave Namibia during 1st World War. At end of war, they chose to stay while in other colonies they left completely. That's the difference between Namibia and other Germany colonies. Language and culture remained coz they did not leave Namibia.

Not true at all. I love my country and so do many other germans. Only because there is a flag every few meters like in america dosent mean there is no patriotism. And im certain that they love us so much, because we pay good money to them. A few decades back the german empire massacred theire people and now we are kinda sorry and pay them more Development Assistance than other countries.
