    I'm german, so I can tell... Almost all are correctly translated... Some need adjustments: Land= Country/Land Kanne= watering can is more fitting, but jug/can are technically not wrong Laufen= walking/running (faster than walking) Serie = series or serial/production run. TV series is too specific for that word Übel= evil/malice ( in this case), sick/ill is also another translation; "Übelkeit" can be translated as sickness/nausea

    Honestly, them using the noun Übel (Evil) rather than the adjectives makes more sense. As for shortening of Gießkanne... unlikely. I don't remember having ever heard anyone shortening it like that. And Jug would make more sense, considering Aquarius is often depicted with one.

  • @Shigeru0508

    @@insentia8424 Evil usually translates to Böse and Gießkanne makes sense considering she's a water magic user. Because it makes a more clear connection to water. Don't know if that is so unlikely.

  • @insentia8424

    @insentia8424

    3 ай бұрын

    @@Shigeru0508 Yet Übel is most often used in proverbs, and there is a reason for that. Übel refers to all Evil, while Böse refers to the driving Force behind Übel only. Both get translated to evil, as English doesn't differentiate as much. Regarding to Gießkanne: Aquarius is very often depicted with a Jug, and associated with water control. So, classical fantasy in mind, that connection is more likely than a relatively modern implement.

    It is interesting that some names reflect the character's magic of choice like controlling water or ice or moving really fast while other characters have names that speak more about their personalities like how Himmel is the Hero and is someone many look up to as if he was literally above others.

    Little note: Übel at least here in this context means bad. Like "Das ist übel" = "this is bad /evil" since the character itself is evil and fits better. In another context you could say "Mir ist übel" = "i feel ill/sick" and that would be also correct. Also Serie doesnt actually have to mean TV series but a series of stamps, photos, pictures. or to produce something in series. or be standard like "standard equipment includes: windows. or go into series which noun is Serie. Another thing is that if you dont have the letters Ü Ä Ö called "Umlaut(e)" you dont write it like this: Lügner = Lugner but like this Lügner = Luegner. German language is pretty much based on context and pronounciation because in colloquial german "umfahren" can mean drive around but can also means its opposite.
