And the beat goes on! There’s no end to this beautiful love story - Dean and Nala forever. Based on these vids and the book, I have decided to adopt a cat! Joined a few rescue groups and will get a senior cat any day now. Being a senior myself, this is number one on my bucket list!

I don't normally comment on KZread videos, but I just finished your book, it seems you are just as aware as I imagine that if you had done ANYTHING differently leading up to the mountains in Bosnia, you never would have come across lil Nala. Even if you had gone with Ricky instead of parting ways that night, just for the evening, it may have been a missed chance. Nala may have been asleep amidst some rocks later in the day. It's daunting and almost not worth thinking about, but the Scottish saying holds true, and it was fate. Glad you're doing our people proud dude.

Exactly, if Dean had left earlier or later that day; whether with or without Ricky, or maybe had stayed an extra day or whatever There’s no guarantee that Dean & Nala would meet Plus (forget his celebrity status & people recognising him & sometimes offering accommodation etc) I think Dean agrees that travelling around the world with Nala is definitely more interesting than alone Sure he has travel slowly ie take more breaks & all the care requirements for owning a cat But all worth it Like let’s say Dean could be in maybe Australia by now if he didn’t have Nala The real Dean loves Nala with all his heart & doesn’t care so much that he’s in Austria as he has his favourite feline with him 😊

Nala has been spayed so it will have to be any felines that Dean may adopt but then again he is a responsible person so would have them desexed as well.

When they were on the ferry, and Nala was giving the air a really big sniff! 😄👃 I wonder what different aromas she could smell. 🐕🦊🐈‍⬛🐎🦌🐁🐿🦆🦢🐸🐟🦗🐝🌻🍀🌿🏞

The cat, the perfect travel companion. I once was chatting with a person who said the only difference between traveling alone and traveling with a companion was whining, you have someone to whine to and your companion whines to you. However if you travel alone there are always interesting people to interact with but they do not know you well enough for whining. To me the biggest difference is if you are with your companion you have someone to cuddle and kiss with. Well, unless you are into doing that with strangers, which I am not. But with a cat for a travel companion, there is also no whining, and you do have someone to kiss and cuddle with. I think you have chosen well, or maybe it was Nala that chose well.

So true Julie ! l made a comment in another video that Nala is all the love Dean could ever need Exactly what you say about travelling alone - you enjoy everything + everybody on a higher vibration with no one to bring you down or you them with whines or impatience. We make the best of every encounter alone and we don't give up and fly straight home at the first boo-hoo 🤣 (which l did with a partner 🛫) I arrived alone in Barcelona once and by lunchtime next day l'd met 2 New Yorkers, 2 Ozzies, 2 Mexicans and a Spanish girl. We had lunch on the beach, swam in the sea, drove to Salvador Dali's house and spent our time together laughing, being our true selves, all on exactly the same wavelength 🥳 That 24 hours is in my heart forever 💘

I particularly loved the end with Nala running up the stairs chirruping because she knew where she was!

You and Nala are LOVED around the world 🌍 keep doing what you do.. inspiring ..!

Beautiful. Sharing life with a fur baby is an amazing experience. Thank you for showing the world a light to guide the lost souls out of the darkness that surrounds us.

I feel sorry for the boat operators though. So few passengers, they're losing money every time they run. So far Covid has cost the world economy 2.2 Billion Dollars. But ... I believe the rebound will be spectacular!!!

Nala has a rich life because she has the best Activities Co-ordinator who is always planning great adventures. And Dean and Nala like to share the fun with the rest of us.

So I put this on while getting ready for bed, and out of the corner of my eye Dean's hat looked like a bandana, and him wondering around a boat with Nala on his shoulders, he looked like the pirate that got kicked out of pirate school for bringing a cat on his shoulder instead of a parrot, so he was banished from the high seas and sent to the Danube. But, honestly, who wouldn't want to pirate the Danube? All those pretty castles....

I think a lot of those "castles" were actually garrisons to protect traders from river pirates, back in the day when most transport was done by water

Such a special girl...with a special Dad.....you getting and keeping Nala was meant to be. The love you have for each other is as it should be.

Nala looks absolutely regal sailing down the equally regal Danube.

When I broke my collar bone due to tripping over one of my cats, my orthopedic surgeon ironically suggested that having one of my cats lay on my wounded area would help it heal exponentially. I believe it's to do with the heat of their bodies that and the purring factor. Anyway, he was right, it felt great. I used Oscar the 1 I tripped over so he could admonish his guilt in the process. LOL!

The cat in my profile pic is Maggie a senior I rescued along with her sister Oreo when they were 10. I rescued Oscar when he was 6. I have a love for black cats. He is going to be 9 on 6/22/21. But bc of him being solid black, I don't see him so well at night, hence the broken collar bone story.

It’s true, one of the purposes of purring is to speed healing, that’s why cats in physical distress an purr. Scientists think it has to do with the sound frequency of the purr. But the warmth, comfort and joy on your kitty being on you can’t hurt, either. I always recommend listening to purring recordings for injuries for people without cats, especially bone injuries.

@@kimberlyperrotis8962 Hi Kim, Yeah, Oscar is great, just got a little shook up when I fell and yelled out in pain. I took the brunt of the fall to avoid falling on him the second I felt the fur on my calves. I'd rather I am hurt than him. At 170 lbs. I'd have killed him had I fallen on him. I love having him lay on me anyway. It's his way of paying off the medical bill! LOL!

What magnificent countryside. Unless you're a real cat person you have no idea what we endure for our cats.

Nala was sooo cute when she was asleep on your leg. Anyone with a baby, dog or cat knows the numb feeling of not wanting to move so he/she can sleep!

In the late 1960s I went to stay with a family in St Polten. With one of their sons we took a blow-up rubber dingy from Krems to Melk (or whichever way is downstream). Beautiful day, breathtaking views, very peaceful and serene. By the time we got to the end, the boat was half deflated. When my mum found out, she was not best pleased.

that cat gets to go too many places, i'm jealous.

And trying the art of carefully scooping her up on two hands and have her not wake up so you can reposition yourself. I often wake up with a jelly arm and crooked neck because of our Lala.

3:33 Poor Nala - so frightened and overwhelmed she needed a nap. Honestly, I have never seen a cat that's so ready to adapt to whatever. As long as dad's with her, she's good. And 2:09 is just... well... beautiful.
