According to a myth, when Cobras are of certain age, they can assume human form. Thus, the film begins with a male and a female in their human forms, singing and dancing amorously with each other. When the male turns back into a Cobra, he is shot by a member of a hunting party, who thought the Cobra was going to attack the woman. The rest of the story deals with the female taking revenge on the group of friends responsible for her lover's death. In the end, Vijay is the only one alive and the nagin dies before killing him and realizes that she was wrong and that her revenge destroyed many lives just like her own life was destroyed. Near death, she sees her beloved in the sky calling out to her. She dies and reunites with him in heaven.

Outstanding film and acting
The first time I saw this movie was in 2001. No matter how many times I watched this movie, I never get tired or bored of it. Raj Kumar Kohli Sahab Did a great job directing this movie. I was 16 when I saw this movie.

Although this movie had a lot of handsome actors but Dutt sahab overshadowed everyone with his amazing screen presence, his famous panther walk, hairstyle & of course his attire. He looked dapper in the song "Tere ishq ka mujhpe hua ye asar hai" with Rekha.

My childhood, the song just came to my mind and I decided to search KZread for the movie. Am African, but Indian movies were way ahead of their time back then. Great movie with great star cast and a great villain that you have to feel sorry for at the end even though she was murdering people. Indians don't produce movies like this these days.

This was all and all reena Roy's movie.
I came to Bombay from Kathmandu in 1978, I was just 14 years old and I saw this movie in theatre with my father. Now, I am 62 years old, I have 2 grand daughters and 1 grandson. Sometimes, I tell them this movie story.
Nagin. Movie of that era when people used to love such stories.many many a cameos by all the great actors of their time. Reena Roy. All the credit goes to u...... For giving life to the best On screen Nagin..

I watched this movie when I was a kid.
The final scene would always raise goosebumps on your body no matter how many times you’ve watched this movie, the scene was like, they did opening ceremony when sunil dhutt and the snake lady was dancing and the real final match started after the opening ceremony which Sunil dhutt eventually won at last
