@@Staticzx we were never Hindus this side of India. Please, research the unique identity of the tribal people of northeastern India. We were headhunters happily dancing away around the decapitated heads of our rival clans celebrating in the moonlight. It was macabre, so, the fact that your so called western missionaries brought us the Good News of the risen Christ has been nothing but blessings after blessings for most of us tribals here in northeast India.

@@Staticzx all of those cultures you speak of are found in different parts of our great country. See, India is a nation that prides itself in Unity In Diversity. Again, if you looked at my reply you will see I am talking about the northeaster side of India. Come here and experience our lands and our cultures. Climatically, we are different from most other areas of India. We live on the hills. Religiously, we used to have shamans to try and appease evil spirits and our ancestors worshipped tree roots and some such gods of their own makings, not our Heavenly Father. We were never Buddhists, never Muslims and never Hindus at any time in our history. Economically too, we are pretty distinct and rely a lot on the other parts of India that has always been Hindu or Muslims. The Mughals never made it to my area of India. I am not arguing with you, just trying to make you understand India is not just Hindus and Muslims. None of the ancient empires nor the medieval ones ever came into contact with my ancestors. However, the British did.

@@Staticzx we have plenty of cultural identity and cultural traditions that we still practice. Eg., we have no professional grave diggers as it is the community's responsibility to bury it's dead. Our way of marriage and it's unique practice still survives to this very day though we have included the church ceremony as a part of it nowadays. See, if there had been any dynasty or empire that ever touched my ancestors it was most probably Genghis Khan or one of the Chinese Dynasties. Even in looks and built, we are as distinct from the average Indian as night is from day but we are all as Indians as the stars belong to the solar system, as much as there's water in the oceans. Look at the map of India, trace out the northeastern regions and see the seven states therein. We are Indians but we have our own distinct cultures and traditions, heritages and histories. India is a country that has unity in her huge diversity.
