Naga Biggest Mass Wedding - 13 Couples Wedded at Laii (Vafiimai/Gaziphema) Baptist Church
A mass wedding ceremony took place at Laii Baptist Church under Poumai Naga Baptist Association (PNBA) today where 13 couples were solemnized by Rev Th Loly Awuh, local Pastor of the church.
The Laii Baptist made a resolution that a mass wedding would be performed once a year during December. The Church Council took the resolution to encourage holy marriage and discourage elopement to reduce the burden of parents in arranging big weddings and to save time as well. The Church bears all the expenses of the wedding from the decorations to catering service etc.

My biggest respect to the pastor and the whole villagers for promoting such a noble tradition. If this concept of Mass wedding is promoted and normalized, believe me, cases of elopement will reduce to great extend in our Naga Society. In a highly materialistic world where the chasm between HAVES and HAVE NOTS is becoming ever wider, wedding is gradually becoming an "exclusive" event for the haves, shutting the door for the Have nots. I believe, every couple deserves to commence their marital life with God's blessings. Atleast in Christian context, "Wedding" shouldn't be seen as a luxury.

In the early ancient time Before Christ bc the entire Hao tribes of manipur are call Lai Tai people with nagaland peoples , Lai tai people or Hao tribes of people brought Evolution of Meetei (meitei ) tangkhuls were 50 percent Tangkhuls were Mangang Salai ..... 7 colours of salai flag is different Hao tribes ....puya ( old record books)

@@RobinsonMikri The entire Hao tribes or Lai Tai people brought Evolution of Meetei (meitei) ,evolution of 7 salai 7 yek , evolution of 7 colours salai flag. .....nagaland peoples are Lai Tai people, British came in 1835 called naga hills latter known as naga n nagaland......Thipongkei was the old name of nagaland n Thipomei was the old name of Kohima.....puya (old record books of Meetei Hao ).......thank you........I visited ukhrul many times.....now I would like to visit Lai village ...Meetei was came out from Lai village. ....in kaubru kangpokpi hills there was also Lai village

@arunalairenlakpam9553 indeed there is a great story/history of Meitei and my village (Laii). The Meitei king couldn't conquer my village and name us as Laii (Laii which means God)
