I think the lights express exactly how exciting the the content of this song is! Just bc it’s an operatic aria doesn’t mean it can be relevant

Not enough credit here is given to Sophia Muñoz who plays so sensitively and marvelously here. One of the best pianists I've heard collaborating on this aria for sure...

Where’s the orchestra?? If the overrated Ms. Sierra is such a great and important artist, why record with a pianist?? Is DGG too cheap to hire an orchestra?? Embarrassing stuff representative of the mediocrity accepted as today’s gold standard. So depressing . Opera is dead.

@@cadaverdog1424 her actual record that she is promoting here is with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale Della Rai - this is just part of a laid back, lounge concert series that DG has created. Opera definitely isn’t dead - maybe it’s just changed from the records you grew up with. Open your mind and your heart and you’ll see it’s thriving, and is more accessible and diverse than it ever has been.

Her interpretation is bland_ standard_ sounds like your everyday audition__ and please don’t dismiss recordings someone grew up on: Nilsson, Sutherland, Caballe, Gruberova, Crespin, Sills….. Sierra??? Please………… Vickers…. Polenzani??? Siepi, Neri, Talvela….. Speedo??? Ludwig, Cossotto, Horne, Simionato….. Leonard??? Today’s ‘stars’ are yesterday’s covers. But people like you will spend money on this crap….. You truly do not know the difference.

Such a powerful performance - musically and vocally - executed effortlessly. Beautiful to the ears.

Praised for her vocal beauty, seamless technique, and abundant musicality, Nadine Sierra is being hailed as one of the most promising, young talents in opera today. She was named the Richard Tucker Award Winner in 2017 and was awarded the 2018 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Having made a string of successful debuts at the Met, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra national de Paris, and Staatsoper Berlin, she has become a fixture at many of the top houses around the world. On August 24th, 2018, her debut album, There’s a Place for Us, was released under the Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Music labels.

I guess people might be new to this series but the whole point is world-renowned artists performing in a salon, more casual setting. Pianist Danil Trifonov is literally in a white tee, skull cap and jeans for his performance in the same series. The whole point is to eliminate the pretense and solemnity that comes with classical performances and present serious artists in a lively, natural setting.

I suppose, but that is part of the operatic experience. I cannot get passed her attire. It’s a no for me. What’s next flip flops, pijamas? Awful!

I am just posting this comment as a reminder that this is the wrong video to criticize attire b/c this is not that kind of venue/performance. It's meant to be more casual and lounge-like, hence the name "Yellow Lounge."

I agree 100%. Also there is always comments such as "Maria Callas sings it better" that I don't understand. Why can't you love 2, 5, 1000 performances of the same pice? Why the urge to compare (negatively)?

@@cvlen omg yes, ALWAYS comparisons to Callas. Yes she is legendary and was a great artist, but the woman is dead. I never understand the purpose of people pitting artists against each other. One person existing does not negate the accomplishments of someone else.

Angel Blue is singing La traviata at Houston Grand Opera later this year...she is a fantastic soprano...I saw her Liù in Turandot at San Diego Opera in March 2018 and she was the best singer in the cast
