Nadia set very high standards from such a young age. Simply amazing and unbelievable. Hats off to her!

despite all the technical brilliance of modern day gymnastics, nadia is the most beautiful to watch and has an elegance and style that is now missing in todays gymnasts.

I am also an American man and when I want to reujenvate, I simply put on Nadia's clips! She puts Rocky and every male "hero" to shame by what she did as a 14 yr old girl in 1976

She is one of the most iconic and kind of a household name when it comes to gymnastics. Till now there is no one replaced her as big as her name.

With Nadia began a new era in gymnastics and she was undoubtedly the best.

I watched that Olympics and absolutely loved her. I've never forgotten it. She is still the greatest gymnast in my books

I feel that Nadia is the greatest. I was only 13 years old when the 1976 Olympics in Montreal were held. Nadia showed everyone that she was very talented. To this day I still believe that she is the greatest gymnastics has to offer. Best wishes Nadia.

I absolutely love Comăneci's floor routine and the childish flourish like she was 7 years old

She was so supple yet strong like elastic, but she had heart and grace and that whole package together was genius. She worked 24/7 for that moment in history when it all came together. Her bright smile was humble. A smile of grit and joy.

That innocent, endearing smile was perfection as well ...

Perfection is dedication to the task at hand, minimal movement, practice, total concentration, a strong will power, self discipline and self belief. Nadia symbolises that. Watch each and every movement of her closely. That will be a perfect lesson to achieve perfection in any field.

I don't know much about gymnastics, and I always hear Nadia Comaneci's name whenever the Olympics comes up. So I watched the London 2012 olympics gymnastics routine and after I watched Nadia's performance. I now have a new found respect for Nadia Comaneci, she's truly a legend in the sport.

Yes she's your proud and i also feel proud as i saw her live in her first Olympic performance when she was only 14.💜💙❤🧡♥️💛

I saw her also, the whole world was cheering for her, she was the most amazing gymnast of all time, period. Never seeing any video of her after the Olympics back then, I had to judge all others based on what I saw just once. It was and still is not a tough decision, she did all her routines with ease! So fluid and natural and her enjoyment of what she was doing!

A worldwide sports journalists consensus voted that Nadia's forst "10" was the greatest feat of any female athlete in the history of the world. As a gymnast and also her age, I was enraptured that anyone had done such an accomplishment. The fluidity of her mouvements was enthralling and her serious demeanor with a mysterious allure as being from behind the iron curtain and beat the soviet machine, in America we all fell in love with her.

I agree, Ann Marie! I was 16 that year and remember watching her on TV. I felt inspired to do better in everything I did (swimming and studying Spanish). She was like a real live fairy, ethereal and strong and beautiful.

At 7:15 the announcer said no one knew who Nadia was. The public didn't know her, but the Russians certainly did as did everyone associated with gymnastics. As a13 year old gymnast, in the 1995 European championship, Nadia defeated Russia’s top two gymnasts and others by winning 4 of the 5 gold medals including the all-around, the beam, the vault, the parallel bars, and took 2nd (silver medal) in the floor, the only event she didn't win outright. Nellie Kim won that event. As a 14 year old, Nadia won the 1976 American Cup held on March 27-28 at Madison Square Garden and she scored a perfect 10 in the floor exercise. Nadia was very perfect and smooth on her moves. When I was young I saw her moves I was awe. From that there on I never forget her.

I remember watching her and seeing the first '10' ever handed out during the Olympics.... quite a moment in history. Years ago there was a book out about her life pre/during/post Olympics and having read some short clips from the book.... that girl/woman has had quite a rough ride. Although she was a National hero, she was certainly treated like crap and taken advantage of in the worst of ways... Anyway, amazing physical ability in such a tiny package, a real pleasure to watch...thank you Nadia.

How big was Nadia's performance? I was 13 at the time and to this day the only memory I have from the Games was Nadia! Same is true for Olga in '72.

You loved , I thought the whole routine was cheesy and the music awful Probably why Nellie Kim one the gold medal on the floor , with a perfect 10 , of her own

I came across her picture and name from the Encyclopedia my Mom purchased in 1997. Now that we have google and KZread, I am thankful to have seen not only her picture but also her performances.

I have watched that the equipments have evolved now different back then decades ago when the days of nadia comaneci, it's some kind of spring on the floor now. That's why gymnasts nowadays can do those impossible flips!

Hoy y siempre, NADIE como NADIA, recordando que el 18 de julio se cumplió un año más de la ESPECTACULAR demostración de su ARTE en Montreal 1976.

I remember Munich, a whole lot of it was on TV at the time... Then when Montreal came around there was a lot of controversy. Then just before the games where to start a lot of the African nations boycotted, almost everyone had doubts about these games, not to mention the questions about Security. I remember Nadia's first 10! From the TV it looked like her foot hit the floor... My mom liked Korbut. Then I saw her again, running for the vault... Her pony tail swayed back and forth... It was Nadia and she was Perfect! :) She didn't get a high score because of the step at the landing, but she WAS perfect. I remember the end too... Ludmila Tourischeva's performance on the floor was very moving, very strong. You can tell she gave it her all and I had doubts that Nadia would win. Then she was on the floor. It was happy, inspiring and beautiful performance. Then she put her hand down at the end of the piano playing... She again - was Perfect! 6:55 = "She really saved the games. She came on the first night. Made her first 10 on the first night... And all of the agony, all of the anguish... All of everybody saying this won't work... All of the African nations pulling out was just suddenly wiped out by this one little girl. No body had the foggiest idea of who she was or where'd she'd come from and she absolutely saved the Olympics!" That is one of the many reasons why many of us whom watched the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal Canada love Nadia!

WaltsWorker: Before the 1976 Olympics, the public didn't know who or where she was from, but the Russians certainly did. A year earlier Nadia destroyed the elite Russians in the In the 1975 European championship. Nadia won 4 of the 5 gold medals. Nadia won the all-around, the beam, the vault, the parallel bars, and took 2nd in the floor, the only event she didn't win outright. Then six months later, she defeated the top Russian again at Madison Square Garden winning the American cup, by scoring a perfect 10 in the floor exercise. a 9.95 on beam and a 9.90 on both the vault and parallel bars, defeating the Russian by a full 2.85 points.

I never, ever, ever get tired of the story and the triumph of Nadia Comaneci! Unhappily she would go home to unhappy obscurity, sad and lonely crying in her room. Her communist country would not allow her to travel and be celebrated, to make the millions. She should have been seen by the world after Montreal but she was locked away.

I was 4 years old in 1976 when my family watched Nadia Comaneci in the olympics. After that my parents put my sister and I in gymnastics. Unfortunately I was horrible at it, lol. I went into ballet/dance instead. I still love watching these old clips though. Gymnastics was very balletic back then.

But Comaneci was the first to archive the perfect 10 in the history of the Olympics. She also got a perfect 10 seven times

Not every routine Nadia scored a 10 on was perfect, but as she said in a later interview, what could the judges do if she was better than someone who scored a 9.95 ? Some judges later indicated that they would have scored her 10.6 or higher if they could have, Shea's THAT much better than the others. Unparalleled execution and form, and leading edge difficulty. Amazing combination never seem before or since.

She became the perfection.

I almost fell over after 2:45-2:55. That girl was amazing. I don't care is she wasn't Nadia (who is also amazing) but jeez, that was so breathtaking.

you cannot bring back this golden moments anymore but the camera man gave me two CD's of this event. i hanged it onthe wall so that i can remember it the rest of my life. i love it i did it my way i'm proud of it
