Serbian umpires seem not to let Rafa get away with the special treatment that he's been enjoying for a long time 😂😂
@ivanjoldic826
Жыл бұрын
I think that is exactly what Nadal meant. He knows he always breaks the 25 second rule but he always gets away with it because the umpires don`t have the courage to enforce the rule against HIM. Many players have complained about it but tournament directors don`t want to annoy him by insisting on the same standards for all players. In this case Nadal insinuated that the umpire was against him because she is from the same country as Djokovic. For him it was not about the rules.

Joshua Allen He has often had time violations when he has exceeded the time. As I have said, players should be given more time if towels are to be kept in boxes at the side of the court. Depending on where they are standing it must take about 5 seconds to reach the towel. Djokovic also complained in Australian Open. Having carefully watched some of Nadal's matches the times he is more than 20 or 25 seconds is actually vastly exaggerated,
As Nadal said last year when Novak was arrested, "rules are rules"! That's why he better shut up!
"It's always like this with you... You don't know, baby". It is always like that with her and she knows it very well because she is the top notch umpire and does her job perfectly. The rules have to be the same for both players. If you can't adjust, then tough luck. Applies to everyone.

Nadal will always show his true colours when he is down and this incident is one more evidence of it. Swiatek said during the 2021 French open that when she had an opportunity to meet Nadal and griefed with him about his defeat, he had brushed it aside to claim that defeat is part of sport and he never took it seriously. Swiatek claimed she took this as an inspiration. But today if we look at Nadal's visage after the match, he was a picture of melancholy and looked so sullen and downcast over his loss. Even during the customary hand shake after the match, he exhibited unsportsmanship behaviour by half heartedly congratulating his opponent with a convulsed visage. This makes it unequivocal the total disconnect between Nadal's diplomatic statements and actions. He is patently dishonest and his actions speaks louder than words.

the DSLs on the umpire
Yes, he's one of the three most phenomenal, brilliant, driven, successful players ever. He's also a bundle of OCD habits and routines that include taking longer than the great majority of players between points. Then again, they may as well get rid of the rule about a time limit between points if they're almost, alllmost...never going to enforce it.
Rules are rules, Nadal. Sometimes they get twisted, like first granting Nole a medical exemption to allow him to arrive to Australia and then keeping him in a deportation center for days, before deporting him. Or like 99% of umpires who close their eyes when you take 5 min to serve. But not always, thank god for that. Go home.
When you're losing everything bothers you.
I agree that these things happen on court and is not much of a big deal, but if djokovic did the same, most of you guys would call him arrogant, disrespectful and would such a big fuss about it! This hypocrisy is just disgusting!

He's my favorite player - but takes forever in between points, it's about time some umpires call him and penalize him on this crap...good for her!

This is the side to Rafa I don't care for. Novak is slammed for so many things, sometimes justifiably. But Rafa is not the simple, shy local guy he portays. He plays mind games to a high order and woe betide the umpire who calls him to task for his ploys.

They’re ball kids not towel kids. Shouldn’t have to handle those sweaty towels it’s disgusting they ever did it in the first place
Rafa has his quirks and always feels he's being rushed but it is the same for both players.
yeah, when nadal heard this ET music, he believed that Australia open uses everything against him, music, towel, timer, etc
One good thing about COVID.....the ball kids no longer have to run the towels to the players AFTER EVERY FREAKING POINT! Fetch your own sweaty towel.

The thing is Rafa has been around longer than the rules. They changed way after he had 17 slams. And all that time he was used to taking his time.

It's normal. You are losing and every little thing start to annoy you... Also, to be honest, I've never understood why Players need to go for the Towel after every point. Maybe it's a form of concentration.

Do you see how much he sweats? Like someone pours a bucket over his head. I'm sure he wishes he didn't sweat so much
I knew a man who would sweat like a sprinkler when he ran. He didn't towel off every 30 seconds. I think they call it the 'Nadal clock'. Most of the 2011 'longest final' was waiting for Nadal OCD to finish between points. I love this - last year he was throwing Novak under the bus, now he's throwing in the towel. Bye bye!!

Like he said for Novak , rules are rules
Jezz she's had so much surgery done to her face
If you’re service prep and motion take :25, you don’t have much time to take a towel. Simple.

I find it unreasonable to keep the same 25 rule in current situation, which is totally different from the idea that inspired that particular number back in the days. They should add more time but the umpire can start the clock right away, hence no room for bias for everyone.
