Nabarun Bhattacharya on Ritwik Ghatak

Ойын-сауық

Writer Nabarun Bhattacharya remembers Ritwik Ghatak, the maverick Bengali filmmaker, way ahead of his time. Nabarun talks about Ritwik in a way that only he can and we had to share it with you all. This is an audio-video collage available on internet and not any original content from our end. Hence this video is not used for any kind of monetization.

Thanks a lot for restoring this. As it is a philosophical discussion and politics is one of the most important philosophy let me say something. I am a strong anti leftist as well as strong anti rightist. I am not sure detastes for which political view is stronger for me. But I am equally strong Nabarun Bhakto as well as has extremely strong affinity to Ritwik Ghatak. I do not think to understand an artist and philosophy of his art you need to be follower of their political sensibilities. I love their (both Nabarun and Ritwik) artistic expression for their belief but do not subscribe to their philosophy of communism. To me this is art which is eternal and beyond politics. This is fascinating monologs and historically significant. Great job for restoring this.

Agreed....there's things we do not endorse as well from this commentry. But these were honest men with integrity of politics and philosophy, who needs to be heard over and over. That's what we tried to share

@@filmkopath especially in today's India these voices are extremely important. Film is an extremely powerful medium. Unfortunately right wing ecosystem of India have understood this to almost pin point accuracy which left ecosystem has no answer as they ignored the medium. Art viewers need an extremely impartial view to understand the art beyond politics. I feel Indian intellectual audience lacks that impartiality and often fails to endorse. That is why political films are rarest of rare commodity in India and hate gets propagated through Kashmir Files. Ritwik was an extremely critical of systems but he never ever propagated hate. And he never compromised his artistic sense for his political views.
