कितनी अच्छी फिल्में बनती थी पहले आज भी इन फिल्मों को देखने का मन बार बार करता है आजकल की घटिया फिल्मों को दूर से ही नमस्कार करता हूं😮😮😮
I saw this movie at Khayam theatre, Srinagar in 1976, where I was serving in BSF. Now I am 70 yrs old, still the song is my most favourite one. Salil Chaudhry and Lataji made it an evergreen song.

That's the beauty of old songs... old is always gold
I was a child 8 years old...Mumbai was so different than...not many cars..BEST buses were plying on the road...very peaceful and fresh air and Breeze from the sea in the evening was really nostalgic...people were happy with limited things... No phones ..you can go to meet relatives without permission...simple life ...middle class life of Mumbai during that era....a nostalgic childhood

Bombay (Mumbai); meri jaan.70s era.....old villas and bungalows, clean footpaths, the bus stops with prominent movie ads, the milk booth, the BEST double Deckers, Fiat cabs, no autorikshaw, few cars on the road everything so lively ,.......I am lucky to have witnessed this all. The local trains and the Arabian sea added glamour to the city . Love Mumbai.

Yesterday my maternal grandmother passed away.I am listening to this song on loop....the lyrics suddenly feels so relatable...... I never thought of my grandmother frequently, when she was alive....today she is gone..... leaving us shelterless, alone.....I am continuously remembering memories I spent with her .....just after she left...mere wo din Gaye kidhar !!! Those golden memories of my childhood....i am grateful to God for giving me the angel, whom I called Dida( my grandmother)....I am sure you are totally free from pain and smiling in God's lap.

One of those songs that haunts you with its aching sweetness, reminding you of scattered yet finely etched memories..a reminder of 'what it could have been...even, coming of age vignettes! Mala ji's so simple yet gorgeous features with that grave n beautiful poise reminding you of that one dear adorable who you either completely missed noticing at the right time or could never muster the courage to walk up to n express your feelings, applicable mostly to that bygone era(till '05, perhaps?)sans so many modes n channels to connect. All that meant operating in an atmosphere of 'vulnerability', that fear of abrupt loss of contact, conferring every connection with that more preciousness!
What the flames consume are just the mortal remains. The magically divine voice of Lata Mangeshkar Ji will continue to live in every heart for generations to come till music & melody exist in this world........

Now the lines " kisike jaaneke baad" makes me sad and I miss her a lot I used to love her a lot but being an introvert desisted from say I Love You often.Today when I am Dying to Say I Love You ,She is Not there around..I Miss Her😢😢😢

So this version is lil modified, it was originally a composition for a bengali song namely "pagol hawa" , first recorded by Jatileshwar mukhopadhyay in 1962 and then eventually it become famous as a modified version of the former in the voice "Subir Sen" in 1981.. Regardless i have to be giving accolades to the hindi lyricist.. amazing work
