Great video. I have 7 of these and did the same upgrades on them. I also went with metal wheals and graffiti decals and body mounted the couplers. GMM also has kits for the single cars. I drawbared 3 of the singles together just like the prototype ones. Keep up the good work!

Graffiti and body-mount couplers are next on my list too! The drawbar connection is a nice touch - very cool.

Very cool! I do the same with my Ho scale Walthers Well cars! Plano Model Products sells the walkway sets. ☕🍻👍

I've always liked this car, but that simple little project made me love it. Those improved walkways make the $30 car look like the $80 car.

Thanks for this! I bought the Gold Medal Models replacement walkways and handrails for the Walthers well cars but have no idea how to remove the original ones.

They should just pull off. maybe a little light prying to pop them up. The kit makes such a difference

hmmm. good question. i don't really know if they're the same size. the Gold Medal Kit is relatively inexpensive so if you try it, you won't be out more than $15. the kit really can't be modified. I'm not sure if the Kato kits are Thrall units or not - I would check that out first. i did a quick google and it appears these parts are only referenced with the Walthers units.

What brand should I use, Are the Kato Ones good?

i do have Kato, Deluxe Innovations (which are no longer produced and hard to find), BLMA Spine Cars - which are also hard to find but are awesome if you can, and of course the Walthers unit. I think Kato's probably making the best sets right now.

@@AlleghenyNorthern I think the kato ones will do fine, However I dont really enjoy how kato uses a custom coupler for there cars, So Ive got to replace them, Maybe ill go with Walthers
