The best track cleaner that I have found is the Woodland Scenics device. It is labor intensive but it works and it cleans the tracks. Your tracks are all accessible so it would not be a problem for you. I have tried all sorts of track cleaners and even polish but the Woodland Scenics track cleaner did the job well.

I have one of those too, but it's a different color scheme. I made a video when I gave it a shakedown run and it works really well. I use a small paintbrush to clean out the vacuum impeller.

Cool video. Never seen the Tomix track cleaning car in action before. I agree it may not be the best choice for you initial track cleaning attempt. Noise is too much. I found a company on eBay about a year ago. Espee makes track cleaning cars from an assortment of freights cars (multiple roads) with a few different pads that can be fitted for cleaning. Additional pads are sold separately. Does a good job and looks like a normal part of your manifest.

LOL good show. I have three of them I run the heavy grinder in the lead, The the vacuum second, the the wet last. That way I don't have to change them all the time. I made mine DCC with the DCC board that I got I think from Kato. I can look it up if you are interested. I pull mine with four engines. Two in front. Two in the rear. Works very well. Thanks for sharing. Oh they run much better if you replace the horn hook couplers with the T shank MT couplers.

@@NoFear2473651 Yeah they cost a little bit? But I use mine a lot. I did have to tweak them a bit. But I have been running them now for five years I think. Mine are yellow. I added details to get them to look better. The two end units I added windows and pipping. exhaust ports. Made look more real to me. Anyway. I run the crap out of them. Not to say I don't have the other track cleaning systems too. We call the set the rail grinding loco. Good luck and have fun. That why we are doing it any way Right?

Great video. The vacuum car is great but it takes some learning on it. If your running dcc you gotta upgrade the vac car to dcc which Mike Fifer has a great video on that. Dcc will burn out the motor on the vac car cause its set for dc. I had a issue with my vac car getting stuck cause no springs on the pads so I also recommend not using any brushes or pads on the vac car but instead pick up the CMX tank car. It works great. Rung the cmx tank in front followed by 2 or 3 locos, then the vac car. Works wonders on tracks

Well done KRPmodels and for the Tomix Track Cleaning Car it's also compatible with a Märklin Group Trix N scale trains and Kato N scale models too. If you have Märklin Trix Group DB Baureihe 155 DR BR 250 East Germany or DR BR132 you can combine that with a Tomix N scale cleaning car.

Kory, I’ve always to get one of those track-cleaning cars but didn’t, because I always understood that you have to install a DCC decoder in them in order to run them on DCC layout. I’m wondering if I was wrong about that. ...Roy

That poor motor! Sounds like its little commutator is arcing, it's obviously not designed for full DCC voltage. Reminds me of a Cox .020 model airplane engine... If I get one of these cars I'll modify it with a "keep alive" circuit to even out the jittery pickup, and maybe also swap in some 6-wheel trucks for better pickup.
