Cool Update Chad.! Really like the new roadbed track they have now. Way better than the Atlas I used in the 80s. Nice little layout.👍😊

I'd have rather used the Kato track but I didn't have enough and I have plenty of the Bachmann stuff and trying to build this on the cheap. I spend enough on the good layout.

I do too because I'm still not really sure what I'm going to do on it. *lol* But it will be nice having something I can bring places to run trains if the club can't be there with the T-Trak

Is it really necessary to solder the tracks together, what are the benefits to doing this. I have 2 Bachman starter sets and 2 layouts I bought on amazon. I do like the simplicity of the layout It looks fun.

with the little 2'x4' layout I'd say you would be fine not soldering the track. I do it just make sure I have good current flow through the track at all times. I only have one set of wires hooked to the tracks on this layout. It also helps if the rail joiners become lose or paint or glue get in them that could cause power issues. It's just a preference of mine.

Rails are awful close to the edge of the board. Could have a loco falling off.

So far so good and only cheap DC engines run on it and they run slow
