Nürburgring: Driving SLS black & GTR pro, am I hooked?!?!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is a very exciting video for me, as it showcases the first time I’ve driven an AMG.
Tim was generous and trusting enough to hand over the keys to his SLS black series and GTR pro.
Join me in the barn as I share some of my post-drive thoughts on these two awesome cars; let me know below what you think of these two and which is your favorite, I think you’ll find in the video that for me there was a clear winner.
Go give Tim a big thank you for trusting me with these cars if you enjoyed this video

    If Tim ever brings the Vantage GT8 to the ring, I would love to hear your thoughts on it. I think the front mid engine is the best engine configuration. It is in my opinion more forgiving to drive on the limit than the classic mid engine layout. An added bonus, you got enough cargo capacity for a long road-trip.

    the SLS in general is very special and very underrated i think. I regularly see GTs on the Road (no GTR Pro for sure) but I'm already bored of it, like of 992 or Taycan Porsches and that kind of cars (when you live 35 km away from Stuttgart and 20 km away from Weissach, you see this cars very often on the normal road p.e. when you drive to work, its like seeing a "Ring prepped car when living near the nurburgring I think"). When I think of the SLS, I've only seen maybe 5 or so (one time I saw the yellow electric SLS on the A81, and i saw it accelarete - it was taycan pace but 7 years ago) on the road in all the years since it came out. Its just special. Of course I never driven one, but when you read and listen carefully to various "tests", you can understand, thats it's not driving that bad, some people would think of a merc out of that era. Another thing about the suspension. I allways thought the SLS GT or the Black, one of them had KW Coilovers. Maybe i can't remember the right thing. Or I confused it with th SL 65 Black, which has KW coilovers i think.

    It sounds very much like the engine was the dominating feature of the car. Buying a C63 for 1/50th of the price of a SLS black seems to be a great way to enjoy that for us mere mortals without the deep pockets. (Yes I know they aren't exactly the same but very similar)

    I'm with you on the SLS Black as the car I'd take over the two. The normally aspirated engine sounds great. It is a more unique car that can't be confused with other MB models as with the GT. With RennTech so close, they can handle the tweets on the suspension and add power to the engine if needed.

    SLS Black : Iconic, beautiful car, amazing V8 Sound, in my ears the best sounding Car AMG has ever created. AMG GT R Pro: Seems to be a very good car for the track, cause it was developed on the Ring, but what disappoints me is that artificial sound. From what i hear in your Video about both of Tim`s great Cars ..... there might be a GT R Black Series in the barn in the not so distant future ...

    Robert I heard a slight hesitation when you were describing the SLS engine , it’s ok to say it feels like a living thing rather than an engine 😁 There is only a few engines that give goosebumps just from sound and feel alone in my opinion and that is definitely one of them . Did you buy an SLS yet?

  • @RobertMitchell

    @RobertMitchell

    i am saying that the GTR is a faster car, when running quick you know that the car can be pushed faster and then youre really moving faster than you need to be for a nice no helmet run on the ring. In the SLS you get that emotion without having to ring it out.

    Robert Mitchell ah thanks I got you now. I thought you could better the lap time by 20 seconds which is huge in one generation. I tracked the GT S last year, so I can understand and agree with your commentary put so well into words. I can’t wait to try the GT R when things are normal. It will just be so much more dialled in. I’ll share this with my Mercedes-Benz club members.

    I think Porsche should make an engine that is the exact same design as the naturally aspirated engine in the 991 911, but double the size like a photocopy machine would to the image. That engine should be fitted to limited edition model's, such as the GT3.
