Nürburgring CRASH Aston Martin Vantrage GT3 | 06.04.2024 NLS Race 1 Nordschleife
Спорт
During the first NLS race of the 2024 season, the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, with number 69 from Dörr Motorsport, crashed hard at exit Foxhole on the first lap of the race.
The (re)raised curbstone at the section called Foxhole (Fuchsrohre) is one of the most discussed topics of 2024. The result of the much higher curbstone is that drivers no longer ride the curb at this section, but take a wider racing line. Could this be the reason of this Aston Martin crash?
Fortunately the driver was able to get out of the car without any injuries.

He should be kissing the kerb's edge to be perfectly on line. He was a little wider than he wanted to be and was definitely going too fast for the line he was on

Spoke to someone who knows well and the new Aston Martin GT3 Cup cars are light in the rear. The factor has to know this and hopefully they get to work on tightening it up. Did it have anything to do with this crash? Who knows. But "the word" is out there that they need to tighten up the rear end of the new car. It's loose. Needs attention ASAP.
It had to be number 69😢

First of many incidents we'll see there this year.
May we appreciate the camerawork? Like always a fast reaction on what happens or even a slightly change of line and you picked it up!

I noticed how quick the camera focused on the car. Very impressive
i hate the new line there
Was watching the start at Schwedenkreuz and it almost went off there as well, few kilometers later it turns out it did actually crash. Glad he's okay tho :)

i knew that this bump over the hill will bring crashes cause you cant take the curb, adam christ. nearly lost it there on testing the same way, cause of oversteer
That applause has gotta hurt even though it means well.
didn't touched the curb. lost the rear a bit, tried to counter it and ran out of track...
Watch carefully. The Aston gets oversteer as it comes into view. Driver successfully corrects but sadly runs out of road in doing so.
That “Take it easy” on the side of the car 😂
Insane video like always !! ❤❤
Did I just see a $30,000 frisbee hope his ok many blessings to all who see this!😯
Thanks, @Nürburgring for this mount everest curb construction....

The others seem to have no problem with it, hence: driver issue, nothing to do with the curb.

Why do so many people hate curbs? Like why dont we just get rid of all corners for good, and limit the track to 10 mph? Would be way less dangerous than all this unsafe cornery construction!

But he didn't even hit the curb...
Oversteer correction into grass I think
@Atticvs32
Ай бұрын
Yea, you can see the correction on the replay more clearly. He didn't overcorrect or anything, just the trajectory simply ran him out of room. His only mistake was a slightly overestimated speed into the corner. It's one of the hairiest corner on the track. (Of 80+)
that car is toast, will not see it again tomorrow

Who was driving at the time?
Video suggestion: The racing line change before and after the curb raise
zu weit außen ...hätte näher am Curb fahren müssen, dann hatter Angst bekommen und hat kurz gelupft, was leider die falsche Entscheidung war..
I wouldn’t say he would had to go to hospital from the camera shot
Was that a leased car? Does that mean he has to pay yhe track for it?
You can't help thinking that the driver overreacted to being a little wide. It is a difficult track and there may have been other factors.
nummer 69, ob es ein zufall war?
Nice!
0:57 nice….
You can tell how light the hood is. It floated and descended like a piece of paper.
Ouch 😂
Time for the EVO upgrade?
Looks like he understeered and carried slightly too much speed in the corner then hit the grass 🫥🫥
Is this a race??
Who was driving the car at the time, not Darren Turner surely ?

too fast for the new curbing ?

early turn-in, (because corner is blind), too much speed, understeer, grass, oversteer, barrier

there is a small bump in the apex, that makes the rear light.. you can hear it on my last recording. the section was rebuild to this year.

Too much speed, exactly! 😂
Yup, knew that would happen.. The rear gets light just at the apex.. that corner is ridicoulousy build.. "safety" and less speed my ass..

if every car crash at that spot then yes it's a problem but thats not the case so just like every other bends and turns on the ring you just have to learn and relearn it
No, I'm sorry, but I think that's too easy to say. Of course, the new curb is a not entirely happy change. But I hope that it doesn't get mentioned every time an accident happens there. Race tracks change, sometimes in one direction and sometimes in the other. The fact is, it is the drivers and teams who have to adapt to this. If an accident happens, it is certainly not the fault of the route or the operator because they have every right to make changes. If an accident occurs on or through this curb, then the driver simply has not adapted sufficiently to the new situation. A new line isn't everything. The speed at the point also plays a role. EVERYONE now knows about the new curb, so it's time to forget the old line and speed there and adapt to the new conditions. This applies to racing drivers and tourist drivers. In my opinion, this accident here has nothing to do with the new curb. We've seen something like this before, even when the curb was still flat. I suspect that the tires are still too cold or the air pressure is too low
Daddy will fix it
😮
He almost had it as well
Hoffentlich war die Code 60 schon aufgebaut.
That corner looks so awkward for the cars now. Absolutely awful corner now. Must be changed back at least before the 24.
