Totally agree with Ram Prasad. In my 87 years I have observed audience and organizers changed, I have seen the later night cutcheris dropped. Our present audience is worried about transport, dinner time and many leave at 8pm. Sad. Now more young singers but not in audience

What we need is greater concert etiquette on the part of rasikas, which is glaringly absent in the Carnatic and especially so here in Chennai. In the West and in western classical programs, concert hall doors close once the program starts and no one is let in later except between pieces, while here it is even fashionable for dignitaries to come late and parade up front and make themselves seen. Some better organizations in the US do practise this with their Carnatic programs too with announcements up front not to leave or enter while a piece is being rendered. So also, no one leaves before the very end in Western concerts, and there is always a planned intermission; in our case, with no intermission, older folk, who form the bulk of the audience, do get forced to take their own heath breaks often causing distractions for others. Free concerts also invite many short term guests who listen to just a few pieces and leave; often the seats and the doors of auditoriums add to the distraction with their own din. The list is endless. The influence of movies or what, in many halls, the audio volume is set too high, and special effects like reverb are handled with no understanding of acoustics. The list is long. All stakeholders need to put their heads together and effect corrections for better concert experience for both listeners and the artists.

Thanks to Ram Prasad sir. It is not only important to analyse the reasons why the audience leave the sabhas in thd middle of a carnatic music concert, but it is also the respondibility of the so called Vidwans or Vidhushis to make the audience listen fully their concerts. Saketharaman, Abhishek Raghuram, Sudha Raghunathan, Suriyagayathri, Savitha Sreeram have all completely spoiled the original tune of all the kruthis they have sung so far till now and have introduced their own sangathis with very much unnecessary bruhaas without limit and have become a curse to Carnatic Sangitham without following sacrad tradition and wighout respect for the Saint conposers. God has to save Carnatic Sangitham from these singers .🙏

The point he (PR ) rightly made, we should first understand our limitations in the current world. Socially, economically, spirutually, religiously,.... we find there is a big departure with respect to times the Saint lived and how He lived. TMK music in now saturated nothing to offer except gimmicks and spurn leftist ideas and disturb the purpose of other musicians. Well , TMK should know what if some other faith king had destroyed Nallur Kandaswamy temple (where he has praised the devotees)... the local people would have reacted differently. The gross misunderstanding of South Indians about North Indians sufferings under Moghuls , British are different. Periyar (the charlatan) liked the British rule. Partitioning has affected many lives in the North. TMK - stop boasting... better listen to some of your yester peers, they are wonderful. I have stopped attending his crying for Sankarabharanam, pausing before the next number, drinking barrels of water, going for thAnam suddenly ... and then smiling all DRAMA, no RAMA will come close for SURE.

The reporter interviewing is a worst person. He pulls the artist again and again into controversy. Listening to the marketing discussion is an example. His knowledge is very minimal

When all of the Greats have said, knowing the God within is what we need to strive for, can't understand what is wrong in what TMK said. You are taking offence that it's not possible for mortals, so how he can say it?!! 🤔 Looks like this channel and the so called musicians need TMK in their thumbnail/ conversation to bring in views. People who know & love music go to concerts for the music, talent and the experience that only sublime concerts bring - not just for show or showing groupism. So instead of taking sides, forming groups and cursing, it would be nice if they can do an honest day's work for music and for humanity. Sorry to say, this interview sounds more like a shark-tank business-model conversation and nothing to do with nadopasana. He is talking about marketing problem he faced 'cos of a prestigious background, as if Sandeep Narayanan, Abhishek Raghuram, Nithyashree etc. do not come from a family of musicians?! Like what??!! 🤦

My understanding is that Mr Ramprasad's response on Nadachi was more about the timing of TMK's explanation of just that song while other songs were not explained in the concert and hence the question about his intention. As for marketing, I have been following Mr Ramprasad's concerts since early 90s and he is senior and older to Abhishek (I also follow Abhishek's music avidly) - so the time periods are not strictly comparable. As far Nithyasree , it still required an AR Rahman movie song to shoot her into limelight, despite her lineage. I honestly don't know much about Sandeep Narayan lineage except that his influence comes from being son in law of Isha's Jaggi Vasudev

The interviewer is highly biased, rude and very unprofessional. Interrupting the guest at every turn is not professional.
