If I'm not being too blasphemous, I am putting the " Ivory Throne" in the same platform as the "Silapadikaram" of Tamil literature. .... Truly an epic!! Brilliant work, Manu, and rest assured that, there is never a dearth of almost forgotten history in every nook and cranny of Kerala, from wayanad to thiruvananthapuram,waiting to be transformed into an Iliad or an Odyssey.. ...so expecting many more epics from u, and hoping to meet you sometime.... Wonderful interview with good language

This surprises me that Manu Pillai cannot yet read Malayalam. It took me about 3 weeks to learn the Malayalam alphabet and within a month I could read Mathrubhumi and Manorama.

What is the guarantee that what the spies in the royal court were reporting the truth to the British as Manu seems to be completely relying on the account from the British archives. They could have been prejudiced too.Also his version is one sided as the descendants of the junior rani did not cooperate with his book and therefore prejudiced . The real truth is somewhere in between .Some things he says are contradictory too . He says when the senior and junior ranis or their children went out they were surrounded by 8 servants and yet he says the junior rani liked going to parties and used to return at 3 am from parties . The descendants of the junior rani have stayed silent and graceful and not contradicted any of these gentleman’s claims which is due to their greatness . Gandhiji himself has written that when the regent said she had no power to declare temple entry as she was just the regent , he asked the then 12 year old sri chithira thirunal balarama varma whether he would allow this when he became king and he apparently said certainly he would. So again there is some contradiction to what Manu says as he claims temple entry came due to pressure from ezhavas. When you claim to write history , it should have input from all the parties involved.
