This week on Mythstories we're looking at the death of Adolf Hitler, was it in the Fuhrerbunker in 1945 or South America many years later???

Don’t get the Dan hate 🤷🏼‍♀️ Enjoyed him challenging Ciaran’s skepticism! Helped get more of Ciaran’s perspective out + the opposing (Dan’s in this case! His disbelief was not shy 😂) or the widely accepted - tbh without much investigation - world view. Interesting ep, thanks boys! 👌🏼

A bit of nuance on the subject of Dan: -Perhaps was slightly cheeky and trivialised ciaran's pov, but, -Good to get a contradicting argument from him to encourage discussion and put his side of the discussion over well Great episode guys

Water isn't wet. Water is Water. Wet describes an Object once it has been in contact with Water.

@FayeClegg That's like saying fire isn't hot. When fire comes in contact with something, it can heat it up and make it hot, but it still is an of itself hot. Same with water, when touching, it has a wet texture and feels wet. There's no denying this, but at the same time, when it comes in contact with another surface, it makes it wet also. My point here is that the terms aren't mutally exclusive, hot, or wet. they don't just apply to things their sources come in contact with, but they describe the source itself.

31:01 here then - Nazis ended up in Argentina because of Argentine President Juan Perón, a committed fascist who openly favored the Axis Powers during WWII. Consequently millions of Reichsmarks poured into Argentina (including ill-gotten spoils of war), creating a permanent land owning German upper-class in Buenos Aries. In return for making him rich, Perón cooperated with the Germans during the war (on matters on Intel, etc), and after the war assisted in the formation of 'rat lines' to help Nazis avoid capture.

To Dan's point about comparing bin Laden to Hitler (@51:15), Russia alone lost 20 million people fighting the Germans in WWII. 20 million. Just Russia. According to Brown University, non-coalition casualties in Iraq since the 2003 US invasion are (as of March 2023), 315,190. Afghanistan, 243,011. Total combined coalition casualties (including uniformed soldiers and contractors in both Iraq and Afghanistan) is less than 18,000 (just over 15,000 belonging to the US). Add the 2,997 killed on 9/11 (which includes the victims on the planes) and you're at 579,198. Add the 19 hijackers, and it's 579, 217. Brown University is regarded a left of center first rate academic institution (meaning they don't play games with casualty numbers, but if they were so inclined, those numbers would go up, not down). But lets say, for the sake of argument, that Brown's figures are 100% off. Meaning the real figure is double their final tally. It still adds up to less than the total casualty count just at the Battle of Stalingrad (which was 1.2 million). Lets go further. Lets say Brown is off by a factor of 10 (meaning multiply Brown's final tally by 10). That still adds up to less than 1/3rd of the people Russia lost during WWII. Even if you add up every casualty from all Middle East conflicts (including those between regional neighbors) from 2001-2024, plus every casualty of the GWOT (Global War on Terror), you're at 4 million, which is less than 1/15th WWII's death tally. In fact, even if you were to add up ALL world wide casualties of ALL wars from 9/11 until right now, you end up at just under 6 million, which less than 1/10th WWII's death tally. Total WWII casualties: 80,000,000 (that's 80 million). This is why any argument comparing anyone to Hitler will always fall apart. Btw, Hitler died in that bunker, 100%. This episode's final tally: Dan 2 / Ciaran 0

Blakey from On the Buses gave it a good go bringing back it back in more positive light even if he was portrayed as being very controlling. Of the top of my head Fred Trump had a brief moment post war with a toothbrush mustache aswell. Pre war Charlie Chaplin was notibly famous for playing the tramp with a toothbrush mustache for the comedic factor. It is a shame but. Hitler also ruined a style of architecture and art as the propeganda was very Bold and Masculine. Theres a magic the gathering artist whos style of art is that that was prominent between the wars. Ironically does a piece that has Hitler fused with a fella who was famous for being on the cross. Definatly a guy whos pieces make you thing and provokes those with a less tolerable softer mind.

How great would it be if someone made a movie "Hitler's afterlife" just the struggles of his narrative in South America, battling with his authority. Killing people who got close, sending information to Germany and it all being funded by America as a great mind! Then, recent times he's the one that created the pathway for Israel. Here, I'd watch it
