There are extremely few things in this game that left me as stunned as experiencing teraflare for the first time. The entire fight is just a beautiful dance of chaos. Despite being a beautiful and fun fight as a whole, biggest crime is that the fight was made before the raid designers truly found their stride. Thankfully UCOB showed us how good Bahamut’s fight could be.

I think it must be my best achievment so far!

Mad respect for doing this. People don't know what they are missing out when they do this fight unsynced, and there is a contingent of the fan base that is dead set of discouraging players to do it. I still hear the twisters and Ahk Mourn when I listen to Answers. My favorite fight in FFXIV I've done so far.

I did this relatively recently sync'd with some newer raiders, and even for myself it's still quite an encounter with gear and guides, so kudos. On the healing side of things, I think it's relevant to note that healers and tanks are particularly impacted by the ability pruning that happens with every expansion. They didn't get much to replace the lost cooldowns so it's more work to keep up with incoming damage.

Congrats. I remember doing this with Blue Mage only party for the mount reward and I gotta tell you, it was hectic. Since the game don't consider Blue Mage as a role, anyone could get targeted for any mechanic. Sometimes we had to cheese some mechanics by using our shield that mitigates 90% of damage.

I only played this fight synced as Blue Mage (I was on healing duty) and I need to say, blue mage healing is good and terrible at the same time. We have very potent heals, but no oGCD healing. Spot healing for mechanics was a pain, and the twelve forbids when we ended up with both healers being on puddle duty. The "anyone can do any mechanic" wouldn't start being a major PITA until A8S. Gavel gave us a lot of trouble.

If you don't get chills when the opening strains of "Answers" echo across the scene of Bahamut preparing to nuke your ass, then you haven't been paying attention! Goddamn.

I don't have a lot to say on this fight, between mechanics, the music, phase transitions, and the struggle, I loved this fight. I lucked out and got the spear my first clear, this was before the weapon coffer was part of the loot. There was a neat trick with pld and earth shaker, not sure if it's still there, but if you use cover on a target, the puddle won't drop. The hardest part for my group was megaflare dives. On a side note, one of my favorite screenshots is of the terraflare transition.

So sad I couldn't be there the day you actually killed it, but being a part of this whole thing was some of the most fun I've ever had in this game. Thank you for giving us all a chance to be a part of this ~~moderately~~ cute community! ♥

I can count the number of my friends who made it this far and the amount of friends who didn't just give up on this and turned off MINE. Coils is just super chaotic and untested. Y'all did great ☺️. I hope you and Psy try UCOB together someday🤞🤞.

ive only tried this fight once synced...its crazy how a couple terrible players can just make a fight impossible, we couldnt get past orb phase. one of them was genuinely trying to learn and get better, the other just constantly argued with us. after a half hour of attempts the raid leader got sick of it, kicked him and said sorry to the rest of that he was done. im hoping in the near future i will be able to do this fight synced (not MINE lol) as well GRATZ ON THE KILL!

Yea, the fun of the struggle and go learning all steps of the fight progress first time. It's the coolest thing for raiders. I hate ppl that insist you to watch a video before doing it. lol :D

Congrats man! very impressed with how much you've done blind, interested to know if you've thought about eventually doing ultimates blind as well ;) (I don't think you need to, the fights are definitely another level and while I'm sure you could manage it, the hardest part would probably be trying to find 7 other people who also don't already know the fight but are skilled enough to figure out and execute the mechanics consistently)

Thanks! Right now I don’t plan to do any ultimates blind. One thing I’ve noticed since the recording of this video by doing Alexander blind is the sheer time investment to get back to the prog point of the fight can get very exhausting on 10 min fights, let alone 15 min ultimates. I may do a half and half approach where I do a quick guide check when reaching a wall a few times so we are at least going into the pull with a plan for that mechanic, while still keeping what follows unseen. That or to do a few lockouts totally blind before looking at a guide

@@JustRuss That's definitely the best of both worlds, and it's what my group did for this tier's savage - basically you go in blind, and after you see a mechanic once or twice you go look at the guide for just that mechanic. means you don't get stuck on a single mech for too long but still get to try to figure out how to solve each mechanic yourself (although, if you do UwU first, I would recommend doing it fully blind for the first few days at least. no reason of course :3 )

maid raid!

I got carried through these raids by a lv 90 player because I just wanted to see the story. Unfortunately my ass died to the divebomb mechanic, so I had to watch the rest of the fight from Floor Cam pov lol. But even despite that, the way the music swells, and witnessing all the crazy shit Bahamut was doing while my lv 90 helper was having this epic 1v1? Still gave me chills the whole time.

I wish ultimate coil was rework to account for all classes balanced change over a decade because now is just poorly tune.

I see one of your tanks had the perfect legend title. To preserve your first experience were they just not telling you guys what to do. Because there is no way that they didn't know they mechanics. I'm not saying this because I don't think you should play with them. Play with whoever you want. Just curious if they were just letting you figure it out or if they were telling you what to do. Congratulations on the clear btw. Glad you are having fun with the game.

Yep you’re right! We had two people who had some experience. That tank had done UCOB but not the original coils, and one healer (ridoran) had done the coils on release, so 10 years ago and not done UCOB. Those guys were not allowed to contribute to strategy discussions and they were also semi-sandbagging so not to lead us in the direction of the mechanic solves. They would just follow orders once given them
