One of the most amazing things about myth is that it made you feel like you were there with your men and you were one of them, not like you produce soldiers from a factory. Every time a man died in the game I felt like I failed, even though it's obvious that in real war both sides will lose many men.

+othyization That actually might work. Think Hexen:Beyond Heretic, except of course with a modern engine. Or, since we're considering different genres, how about something Darksouls- or Risen-like? ...Yeah, I know, I am speaking heresies. But I feel this Glen Cook-like atmosphere that Myth had could find home in all sorts of games. I'd be more afraid of them going for a strategy but instead coming out with another company of heroes/dow2 pseudo-tactical crap, without the awesome unified physics of Myth. Loved that engine - EVERYTHING was a projectile (literally, every part of the environment and even of bodies had its own projectile table in the files) and nothing was pre-recorded for fake cinematic appeal - whatever the physics engine said should happen, happened.

+MarkusRamikin no those squad based rtts are much different than the pure rtt myth is. I wouldn't be afraid of them going for strategy compared Dow/coh , I just wouldn't accept it was a myth reboot

Very much so. The multiplayer scene lasted for years after their releases, and had epic multisided battles. Frankly I haven't played another RTS that compares.

mandaloregaming just did a video on this game and used the song and I had a brain fart and I was like "I fuckin SWEAR I've heard that somewhere before" and then he showed a map with the word Madrigal and I was like OH DUH

Myth is the franchise that actually put Bungie on the map. Without Myth's success, there probably never would've been a Halo.

*get careless around fir'bolg/Soulless* "Casualty..." *crossing a body of water and a host of Fetch appear just before you reach the shore* "CASUALTIES!" A lone Trow or Forest Giant tearing into a line of fir'bolg will essentially have the same effect.

i had dream where I was falling from a TALL castle and for a moment everything was slowing down....this song came on, all i could see was a war going on (similar to the war in Myth) and that was the most AWESOMENESS dream i had....

true masterpiece. after 20 years. i still miss this game

@Gaff2019 Yeah, '96-98 were so good! Time, when the graphics has grown up, and ideas were still yound and not that twisted as nowadays. Myth had such perfect ideas and lacked polishness (and this is so cool, you feel yourself a survivor)! It's way better than Myth 3, which is polished, but completely soulless.

I hope that everyone knows halo is about a religion tho im not sure its obvious because they use words as "halo, ark, covenent, banshees, spirits, ghost, spartans, elites, and other stuff i didnt even include

@MiRyRE I'm fine playing myth and myth 2 the way they are, and as an article I read pointed out, games 10 yrs old didn't try to pretend they were reality, they had their own reality. trying to be reality and failing (as modern games do) seems tacky, but myth will never lose its beauty. that said I wish bungie would remake it too. rich as the remaining members are they gotta know that this game right here was the peak of meaning in their lives.

There's hardly anything surprising that I'm stuck playing games from the 90's with hardware made to run the most recent games. Games worth playing are few and far between these days. But at least there's amateur productions and odd exceptions now and then.
