THE MYSTERY ROCK OF MAMRING|| SECRETS OF DARJEELING
The village of Mamring in the Sittong area hosts a mysterious rock formation that has puzzled onlookers for ages.
Mamring is a small quiet village in the middle of wilderness in the Kurseong subdivision of Darjeeling with about 150 families. It is a perfect rural setting where life is still a no hurry affair.
Simple rural folks with nothing much to hanker for, Mamring is a typical mountain village where man is still a part of nature.
A beautiful Buddhist monastery, organic farming, quiet, beautiful and rustic, Mamring is a postcard child of mother nature.
But what makes Mamring special is a rock. A rock formation that is so mysterious that could easily baffle a sane mind. No possible human reasoning could explain how it came into existence. Possibly formed during the time when the earth was cooking down from the lava state.
Interesting folklore & beliefs are associated with this rock formation.
The locals believe that this was carved by Banjhakri, a mythical shaman of the forest.
But whatever it is, it is simply mind blowing.
