Mystery of Mohenjo Daro | Indus Valley Civilization

Ойын-сауық

The ancient city of Mohenjo-Daro stands as a testament to the sophisticated urban planning and technological prowess of the Indus Valley Civilization, one of the world's oldest ancient civilizations. This archaeological site, located in present-day Pakistan, offers invaluable insights into a society that thrived over 4,500 years ago. The discovery of Mohenjo-Daro, along with its counterpart Harappa, has significantly expanded our understanding of ancient civilizations, challenging previous notions about the origins of urban infrastructure and town planning.
Mohenjo-Daro's well-planned layout, with its advanced sewerage system and meticulously designed roads, highlights the civilization's remarkable approach to urban infrastructure. The city's drainage system, in particular, showcases a level of engineering that was unparalleled in the Bronze Age. This ancient metropolis not only boasted robust buildings and public baths but also featured a granary that underscores the agricultural practices of its inhabitants, who were among the first to cultivate cotton.
The work of archaeologist RD Banerji, who played a pivotal role in the discovery of Mohenjo-Daro, brought to light a wealth of cultural artifacts, including the famed flint scraper. These findings have opened a window into the daily lives, ancient technology, and artistic sensibilities of the Indus Valley people. Among the most intriguing aspects of this civilization is its script, which, despite numerous attempts at script decoding, remains one of history's enduring historical mysteries.
Mohenjo-Daro and the broader Indus Valley Civilization had significant interactions with contemporary ancient civilizations, including a notable ancient Egypt connection. This interaction is evidenced by trade routes that facilitated the exchange of goods such as cotton, a major agricultural product of the Indus Valley, with regions as far away as Mesopotamia and Egypt. These trade networks highlight the civilization's advanced understanding of commerce and its role in the ancient world.
The decline of the Indus Valley Civilization remains a subject of speculation among historians and archaeologists. Factors such as changes in the course of the Indus River, agricultural challenges, and possible invasions may have contributed to the civilization's decline. Yet, the legacy of the Indus Valley, particularly its contributions to urban planning, agricultural practices, and technological innovations, continues to influence modern society.
Mohenjo-Daro's significance extends beyond its historical and archaeological value. The site serves as a crucial reminder of the ingenuity of ancient societies and their ability to create thriving urban centers. As we continue to explore and understand the mysteries of Mohenjo-Daro and the Indus Valley Civilization, we gain not only knowledge of our collective past but also inspiration for future innovations.
In conclusion, Mohenjo-Daro embodies the essence of the Indus Valley Civilization's achievements in ancient technology, town planning, and cultural development. The civilization's sophisticated urban infrastructure, agricultural practices, and vibrant trade routes set a precedent that resonates through history. As we delve deeper into the archaeological discoveries of Mohenjo-Daro, we uncover the layers of human ingenuity that have shaped the course of civilization, reminding us of the interconnectedness of humanity's shared heritage.

Hi everyone, I'm the curator at Mohenjo-daro. Mohenjo-daro is one of the six UNESCO World Heritage sites in Pakistan, and it's considered the best preserved and managed among them. Currently, we have a dedicated team of director, curator, and archaeological engineer who monitor the site full-time. Additionally, we have a water and soil laboratory called WASIL on the premises where artifacts from Mohenjo-daro are treated and materials like soil and water undergo chemical analysis for conservation purposes. Recently, the government of Sindh, Pakistan, organized three international conferences. We also have a Technical Committee (TCC) for making decisions regarding Mohenjo-daro, consisting of university professors, engineers, scholars, and officers from the archaeology department of Sindh, who review decisions made throughout the year and assess progress. This year, world-renowned archaeologist Mark Kenoyer has joined the TCC. When Zemtv reached out for a video, they were given priority access and a guided tour.

Each shows us an amazingly advanced civilization that includes domestic life, governance and adminstration, defence against enemies, specific places for religious activities, water conservation, drainage system, advanced agricultural methods, and trade with foreign lands over sea. Our guide at Dholavira has accompanied several archaeological teams so he knew a lot of minute details. You archaeologists are doing a fantastic job to preserve the shared legacy. 🙏

Archealogical findings source Read Wikipedia : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinauli#References Sinauli is an archaeological site in western Uttar Pradesh, India, at the Ganga-Yamuna Doab. The site gained attention for its Bronze Age solid-disk wheel carts, found in 2018,[1] which were interpreted by some as horse-pulled "chariots".[news 1][note 2] The excavations in Sinauli were conducted by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in 2005-06 and in mid-2018.[news 2] The remains found in 2005-2006 season, the "Sanauli cemetery", belong to the Late Bronze Age,[2] and were ascribed by excavation director Sharma to the Harappan civilisation,[news 2] though a Late Harappan Phase or post-Harappan identification is more likely.[3][news 3] Major findings from 2018 trial excavations are dated to c. 2000 - 1800 BCE, and ascribed to the Ochre Coloured Pottery culture (OCP)/Copper Hoard Culture, which was contemporaneous with the Late Harappan culture.[news 2][note 1] They include several wooden coffin burials, copper swords, helmets, and wooden carts,[4][1] with solid disk wheels and protected by copper sheets.[news 2][2] The carts were presented by Sanjay Manjul, director of the excavations, as chariots,[news 2][news 1][note 3] and he further notes that "the rituals relating to the Sanauli burials showed close affinity with Vedic rituals.(i.e., Hindu rituals) 4000 years ago proof. read some history.

India aur Pakistan dono ki government ko mil ke apne sare difference ko bhula ke is mudde pe zimmedari se apna yogdan dena chahiye. Kyuki ye civilization hamari jadein hai. Koi bhi dharam se upar ye hamari pehchan aur hamare purvajon ki zameen hai.😍

Very well pictured and explained about the Indus Valley civilization A civilization lost in time, but the Excavated structures give us a glimpse of their lifestyle and city. The ancient Indians were well versed with technology, pottery, tools, cultivation, water system, drainage system etc. The Pakistan government should allow archeologist to further excavate the site.
