The fires roll on..... Yesterday, after I had recovered some from my surprise 40th B-Day party that my wife and friend put together for me, I threw some stuff into my vintage Boy Scout Yucca pack, stayed away from the news, and went out to light a fire. I made some coffee, ate some food, stared a bit into the fire, and I would have stared into it more, if I didn't have to stare into a camera lens for a while talking about my one year KZread anniversary and my milestone birthday coming tomorrow. Good times! I'm in good company as 40-something outdoors loving goofball who likes sharing the fun via video creation (although, sadly, my personal goofiness doesn't really translate into my on video presence)! Keep up the good work, and keep those in the woods fires burning! -Gareth

Bacon Spam Baby, Luv it........Spam should be on everyone’s list........had a fire at my camp yesterday 2.9.19 & it was great.......ice all over the place, had to be careful with each step.....turkey, deer, birds, ect.....doesn’t get any better than that......keep these great vids coming......Maisey is a great watch dog..........many Thanx 👍👍🔥🔥

Absolutely gorgeous winter scenery that you've been bringing us. Thank you for braving the elements. Yesterday looked brutal. Glad you got a little break and some beautiful sunshine. I'm blessed to live in an apartment that was built in 1968 that has a big wood burning fireplace. That is very rare for a beach place in California. I love to stare in the fire. lol Better than TV any day! Really enjoying the works of Mary Oliver. Thanks for turning us on to her. You had me laughing having to crawl on the icy driveway the previous episode. Living on the coast of California my entire life...that's a whole different world to me. Thank you!

We call that egg in toast a ‘Toad in the Hole’ but we just mash the bread to make an indention the size of your cut out. Then put butter around edge and sprinkle grated cheese on the edge then put in the egg. We don’t flip it as it is usually in the oven.

I really appreciate you taking us out with you! I'm a disabled veteran and don't get out in the trees very much anymore. I used to love camping out in the winter months. Things are much harder since my stroke about a year ago, but this way I still get out there from the comfort of my easy chair! Thank you so much!

Good fire, good breakfast oh Girl in the Woods! God bless ya! I just got home from the woods. Had a sausage link, bannock on a stick and a sip of wine for a snack before I came home. I spent the day gathering firewood and cutting poles for my shelter and pole bed for next week's overnight.

Thank you for this series, it is so inspiring. I haven't made a fire outdoors yet, but have tried to get outside every day to enjoy nature. I've lit a candle each evening. I hope that one of these weekends soon I will actually try to start a campfire outside in the snow in your honour. I haven't had the courage yet, but I will get there.

Thanks for the inspiration so far I have only made it to the woods one time to build a fire but every other day I have used my grill and wood stoves to build my fires. This gives me the opportunity to try different fire building techniques. keep up the good work (Wolf man)

One Eye Bird Nest :> What did you do with the circle of bread you removed? I fry it up too, like a little piece of toast. --- One of my favorite camping dinners is crispy fried diced Spam mixed into Mac & Cheese. I drink right from streams too. One of my more memorable times is a sub-story of the day I got frostbitten toes that still bother me nearly 20 years later. I had walked 13 miles in the snow after spending the night in my friends truck, the front tires had fallen into a snow cave, I tied the back of the truck to a tree to prevent it from falling further in. I had about 1 mile left to get to a pay phone to call for help. I knelt down to drink from a little stream of snow melt. Out of the corner of my eye I saw something move. Looked up and it was a coyote about 15 foot from me also drinking from the snow melt stream. We both watched each other and continued drinking. When we both had our fill of water the coyote walked away in one direction and I continued on my way the other direction.

I smiled when you pronounced my last name correctly :> It seems like an obvious pronunciation (to me) from it's spelling, but people mispronounce it fairly often.

Wow that landscape looks amazing Brooke. Might I suggest , for when you are feeling like something a bit more hearty, a lentil and bacon soup. Takes a bit of prep beforehand but it is a one pot dish. Take care, stay sweet.

Hey Brooke, since you're on breakfast sandwiches, here's one for you. Are you familiar with Mt. pie makers? Hobo sandwich irons? If you are, separate one and line both halves with bacon, then put bread over top of the bacon. Next make a well in both slices of bread by pushing your fingers down on the bread and crack an egg into one slice. Then some shredded cheese over the egg, and a liberal application of hot sauce. Close up the sandwich irons and grill over the fire. The bacon grease will want to drip out and that's kewl! Turn the irons sideways occasionally to let the grease out. Usually when the grease stops dripping the egg sandwich is done. Enjoy! Nice find on the Mary Oliver poetry! I look forward to your picks for the day. Good on ya!

Too hot even at night to be out side with fire!! As I am years behind catching up on Girl in the Woods videos. Today 9/18/23. But did do a candle until Mosquitoes ran me back in!! They never sleep😳 it’s 00:28! Bacon Spam sounds good. Haven’t had Spam since camping in California 8 months pregnant in 1967. My hubby a smart a** jumped into American River! LMAO very very cold!! I am learning to enjoy the snow. I really didn't like the snow since the first time of seeing it as a child.

You kill me. I love your personality. You are always a happy feeling. You and Dave make life so interesting. I wish I was Da Woof!!

My wife's dog is named Daisy. She a Pug/Boston Terrier mix. She does NOT like snow! She does NOT like rain. She is happy when Mr. Sun is high in the sky and the outdoor temp is 68 degrees. Diva Daisy knows what she likes!

I got into the 78 Blazer and drove through the snow to my favorite restaurant and had Eggs Benedict. No fire but it was great.

There was a moment of absolute silence when you were sitting there. The tranquility was striking. Nice brekky recipe.

Think the new coffee filter is much better :) Ace video - Maysie looks to be loving your trips out!

I love watching your videos, I use the same coffee filter setup you use. I like to grind my own beans. I also buy a medium/dark roast instant coffee that I make up a big picture of and keep in the fridge for ice coffee. I have been kinda addicted to hazelnut cream lately too. I tried the Bacon spam, it's not to bad. I always keep some canned meat and tuna on hand for emergencies. Be prepared ❣️

Hey Brooke good video I enjoyed it and thank you for feeding me and Maisy is a good dog there she's a beautiful dog too and yeah even though I live out here in the woods things that my situation is the way it is for now I started lighting a candle a couple days ago but normally during the summer months I do start a fire it's just that with my situation if I start a fire now people are going to see it and that's not good for me if it wasn't for that I would be starting a fire out there everyday I love fires and wood burning stoves and all things to do with nature so thank you again for the video I appreciate it
