Okay, as you are very interested in the $1 coins, if you didn't know the 2005 -2010 US Mint sets came in what is called a Satin finish, including the $1 coins as well. Seen side by side with the regular finish coins, there is a noticeable difference, as the Satin finish coins are more matt and less shiny. They are probably not found in circulation frequently and also would be very difficult to tell in circulated rolls. However, they do come from both P & D mints. In addition, the Innovation Dollars come in Proof and Reverse Proof versions, as well as the special Reverse Proof Presidential Dollars for Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Reagan. Finding one of these in circulation would be extremely rare, and would only come from a collection dump of a very unknowledgeable person. But these would be something to look out for, for sure.

The maple leaf insignia on the 2019 Loonie is a security feature. Counterfeiting has been a serious problem with the Canadian $1 and $2 coins.

Such a fun video series! I started collecting small dollar coins about the time I watched your first video on them. Just last week, I found a NIFC 2012012-P Native American dollar - and recently a 2000-S Sacagawea proof! Thanks for doing these videos - it looks like your collection will be done in no time if the boxes stay like they've been!

So the 2019 Canadian $1 "Loonie" after 2012 was made out of Multi-ply brass-plated steel, prior to that it was made from steel with brass plating. They started electroplating in 2012, which changed the look of the loonie a lot. Congrats on all the cool finds in your hunt.

I found a bunch of foreigns in my last box. Three Canadians, one Korean 500 won, one Eastern Caribbean States dollar, and one Taiwanese 10 new dollars. I also got a token of Dwight Eisenhower from the Presidential Hall of Fame. So yeah, they let a lot of stuff get into these dollar rolls haha.

I don't think the banks give a hoot about handling "chump change" coins anymore, and it's definitely not worth a retailer's time to bring it back and complain about a handful of erroneous coins either.

Cool hunt! I really enjoy your dollar videos especially! Always love to see what others find. I had a $400 dollar coin hunt last weekend and I pulled two rolls of NIFC’s. SO many upgrades, not to mention a few additions in the presidentials. I also found another Wide Rim sba and it was in really good condition.

Proofs are much shinier than regular coins, and the details of the coin would be frosted. If a coin matches these details, look for the “S” Mint Mark as confirmation. As for proofs from other mints, I recommend looking up if a proof from a different mint was made for that design.

Sacas are by far the most attractive US coin of my lifetime, so I was really sad they didn't catch on. I used to get piles of shiny new Sacas from stamp vending machines at the post office and spend them at coffee shops, but some of the more boring baristas hated getting them. Who doesn't like a shiny dollar?!?! First time I've seen that Saca with the corn planting on the reverse, which is also a really nice design!

I really enjoy all of these. I am not a serious collector by any means but I enjoy buying a few rolls to pick through from time to time. I didn't realize the 81 Susans were special, but I think I have several of those. One thought I had while watching tonight is "How do you handle the coins you pull out but don't add to books?". I know in the past you have said that so far you have not gotten into selling coins yet, so I think it would make a good video to show us how you handle and store your coins that are keepers but not necessarily categorized in collections. For example, what do you do with all the Canadian coins? Or the NIFC dollars that you have multiples of?

Yup. We mint 75 cent coins up here in the Great White North. I don't think it's a big deal if our pennies or nickels wind up in rolls, but the Loonie? That's not fair tbh

I have had amazing luck when finding NIFC Dollars. At my high school, I got 3 NIFC Dollar coins from vending machines along with a TON of 1981 Dollars (which I accidentally cashed in) one of which was a proof. During the last day of school I went to the bank to pick up coins before picking up 2 NIFCs, one of which was an American Innovation Dollar. I then got 3 more NIFC’s from a Summer School Vending machine. All of this without looking through a single Dollar Coin roll.

Always enjoy watching nice and relaxing, get a break from the kids for a few….. honey going outside :) cheers

How do you tell if a coin is a proof? I just started putting a collection and don't know what I have and how to tell what is good or not? Any resource recommended? Thanks. p.s. I had fun going through a large number of about 500 wheat pennies from 1900 to the late 1950's. They were gifted to me by my father about 40 years ago and just now getting around to looking and organizing. I'm older and fully retired now so have some time to play with all my coins. Hey, been watching you for a while now, random question about a nickel if you could answer it, how expensive/ scarce are 1975 Elevated D’s. I found one and my book doesn’t pin a price but says it offers premium price.

The official error name is called the 1975 misplaced mint mark error

I got a 2009 Proof Native American that has that blip on the edge , maybe a anti-counterfeit thing.

@@imorphius3535 a proof coin is different from others because it has a different finish on it that makes it shiny and they are not intended for circulation. They are more collectors items that are produced by the United States Mint in sets called ‘Proof Sets’ containing other proof coins

I'm a a little late to answer your question but a "proof coin" is a coin made with a special strike to make it look like a mirror and they are usually sold to collectors for face value + extra. Collectors sometimes take them out of rolls and put them into circulation for others to find and sometimes they accidentally go in.
