Mysterious, Bad teammate, Delusional, or Black balled? Who is Rashad McCants? STUNTED GROWTH

As professional athletes coming into any professional sports, you don't get to determine where you will play for the first years of your career. You don't get to pick your coach, teammates, GM or fans like you do in college. Sometimes it works out for you and sometimes it doesn't. Here's an athlete it didn't workout for as of now. Here's 3 reasons why I think their growth was abruptly stunted. Who knows, maybe they'll return to form. I sure hope so. Thank you for watching. “Is smiling a prerequisite to playing basketball?” That question alone spoke volumes to me about why Rashad was/is the way he is. His dad.. his dad is at least 80% of the reason that Rashad had such a bad attitude and terrible sportsmanship. Imagine growing up playing sports with a dad like that in your ear

He could just score at will sometimes. I didn’t understood why he never made it but your video makes so much sense given the UNC debacle and his take on current players. He never let go of the grievances.

I’ve watched every episode of Gil’s Arena. McCants is a very strange & sensitive man. He’s a very awkward, unconventional, possibly delusional. He literally hasn’t spoken to Meko Grimes the last 2 episodes over a small joke about his fake Jordans. He only speaks around her, & acts like everyone is their but her. It’s always awkward to see a big 6’5 muscular man that hurt by a small jab from a tiny little woman. It wasn’t even that serious, but Rashad ego is so fragile, & he is very sensitive and insecure in areas that men don’t give a fuck about. Gil is really a good dude, because you can tell he understands McCants psyche & does his best to not offend him and give him a chance at stardom again. Gil intelligence is underrated, I respect him, & I’m happy for Rashad.

McCants has an extremely fragile ego , he seems jaded and delusional as to how good he was and the role others played in ending his career including the Kardashians who weren’t as popular then and did not have the power and pull they may have today Lastly , he has still not yet addressed Pat Bev saying how he ran him out the gym when trying out for the Lakers.

We had Carl Krauser who went to Pit and Reggie Bryant who signed with Villanova and a few other high D1 players. Our team was no joke to say the least. We won the game. But Rashad McCants was killin. He scored anytime he wanted. Talked trash on every bucket. Every lob, dunk, layup. Even called the bucket he hit at the buzzer to force OT. He was an asshole. But I always assumed that was just his competitive spirit. But I guess he was just an asshole all the damn time. Anyway. Great story once again. Salute 🤞🏾

Like in the movie life I call him Can't Git Right! What's really funny is when you listen to him on Gil's Arena you would think he was the greatest to ever play! There's an episode that Pat Bev called him out and said he made McCants quit basketball in a tryout session with the Lakers. McCants got so pissed and heated he was ready to throw hands...From now on y'all are going to think of Can't Git Right when you hear the name McCants!

First of all, thanks for doing McCants. I personally requested this and was happy to see you do it. But I have a lot more info on McCants. The word on the street is he grew up in a household where there was domestic violence and this traumatized him. At UNC, he was tricked by then Coach Matt Doherty into seeing a therapist because of his antics.. This is one of the reasons why Doherty did not last at UNC. In the NBA, he played for Timberwolves Coach Kevin McHale who eventually proved to be a poor excuse for a coach especially for star guards. He ran afoul of Stephon Marbury and in Houston with James Harden. As a matter of fact, in an interview Harden stated how much he disliked him and said he would never speak to him again. As far as the NBA is concerned, they have tolerated Marvin Barnes' foolishness, Wilt's arrogance, Rodman's off and on the court antics and JR Smith's idiocy. McCants has indisputable talent so for him to get black balled out of the NBA he must really be challenged psychologically but his coaches helped his demise more than any player I've known.. Thanks again JC Peace.

Buzzer Beater Great points! I think what really made it over for him though was him trying to take down such a storied franchise publicly and so matter of factly. But what you said was great. I didn't know that about Harden and McHale. Love bro ✌🏾️

Here’s the thing, I don’t know about McCants personal life, so I won’t speak on that. That being said, the word on the street was that when he was at UNC, he was arrogant and/or standoffish. Matt Doherty might’ve been in over his head, but McCants also had/has issues with Roy Williams too. He’s the common denominator in both scenarios. As for McHale, he’s not a great coach, but he’s not terrible either. Stephon Marbury had issues with everybody. He did KG dirty and had issues with Larry Brown and Isiah Thomas. Who’s the common denominator? As for Harden, he’s also no saint. He’s always failed when it really counts. Remember McHale got him to the West Finals in 2015. The biggest thing with McCants for me was he wasn’t as great as he thought. Even when they won the title in 05, I knew that Felton and Marvin Williams would have long pro careers. Felton had a defined position and was a good enough athlete to survive in the NBA. Marvin was a 6’9 athlete who had decent range. McCants was an undersized 2 guard with limited handle, decent but not great athleticism, and not enough range to keep defenses off balance. Wilt was a 7’1 freak of nature. JR is 6’5, a great athlete(especially in his Denver days) who had unlimited range and could get hot in the blink of an eye and was a decent defender when he put his mind to it. Carolina has/had many alums in high places from MJ to Larry Brown to George Karl to Mitch Kupchek. The fact that none of them even bothered to sign McCants speaks volumes. On a positive note, McCants did leave a letter at UNC recently and maybe he’s trying to make amends!

I am a little older than McCants but we grew up next door to his family. There wasn’t no domestic violence in the home I can vouch that. He was really close to his two sisters, but his dad was really hard on him as far as tough love, he pushed him in doing his schoolwork and especially when it comes to basketball. I noticed his arrogance his freshman year at my old high school, he was way ahead physically and skill wise as a freshman and I think that went to his head. I only attended two games of his at UNC, the first one was against Duke at home when beat them and the national championship game both games I was invited to by his father. Not going lie even at those games he gave me the cold shoulder as if he didn’t know me.
