Everyone talks about how beautiful Michelle was. And yes, she was stunning. But look at her here. There's way more than beauty going on. There are beautiful people who are cold and dead inside. Not Michelle. She had a warmth and energy that acting can't fake. Every time she comes onscreen, it's like the sun comes out from behind a cloud. Just wonderful. What a big heart she must have had.

The producers could have done better without making Myra into someone with serious security issues, as well as a possessive stalker. But in real life (Michelle Thomas RIP) was truly a very sweet person. And she was definitely beautiful.

Michele Thomas, the actress, did have a big heart, that’s true. The character she played, Myra Monkhouse, was a very problematic character though. Beautiful and spirited yes, but also a possessive stalker.

@@furious3383 I agree, I was not really happy with the way the producers made her character evolve either. I understand that she was supposed to give Steve a taste of his own medicine with regard to learning how to respect Laura’s privacy and boundaries. However, as Myra matured she should have learned those lessons too, but instead she only got worse as the show progressed.

Carl must've taught Laura how to stand up for herself.

For Steve Urkel, always respected everyone's personal space. This scene, he's going through a similar experience with Myra invading his personal space. Urkel quickly realizes what's life is like in Laura's shoes and the rest of the Winslow family. Wayta go Steve 👍

Yep. Hence, it was why he changed his ways. Steve understands how that feels to endure life as the Winslows under Myra with his personal space invaded and being stalked relentlessly on a worse scale. She facilitated his change from annoying nerd to a mature adult. Hence, Steve tried to stop Myrtle during her visits in Chicago. He knew she was out of line in her pursuit of Eddie and had picked a real bad time to rekindle her efforts. Steve had a Deja'Vu moment when Myrtle told him about her plans to break Eddie and Greta up in season 7's Swine Lake. He told her off to leave them alone. Steve points out that Eddie loves Greta with all his heart and Myrtle is just wasting her time. He flat out isn't interested in her whatsoever, she needs to give up and find her own man. It's a real shame that Myrtle didn't learn the same lessons as Steve did until the end of season 9's Don't Make Me Over.

So are we just gonna ignore the part when Steve said, “My mother doesn’t even like me!”?

More like, he deserves better than Myra whom was pushing herself on him too much. She never respected Steve's personal space and kept pursuing him much to his extreme terror. Hence, he changed his ways and became a mature adult from the experience Myra put him through on a worse scale. Why do you think Steve never went as far in his pursuit of Laura? Because he respects her space, backs down and even apologize to her when he went too far. Steve never stalked Laura, demand commitment from her, forcibly have sex in her locker nor attempted to draw her naked in her room. They have a balance relationship and are each other's support system. Laura was grateful to Steve in standing up to Willie, getting her a date with Ted and finding her cherished childhood doll. She stood up for him against those who don't understand him and even against Eddie who takes their friendship with him for granted. Just because you share similar interests doesn't mean you have a good relationship. Myra and Steve are evidence of it and weren't likely going to work out. Laura and Steve may not have the same interests, but they share the same goals: find that special people, get married and have that everlasting love.
