I've never tried casting on concrete but my best guess is that you would have a very hard time removing the cast and it would more than likely fuse to the concrete and be difficult if not impossible to remove once it hardened. You could use vaseline or crisco to coat the concrete first. Not sure about spray pam. Crisco I would think you would be able to remove easier with soap and water both from the concrete ans from the cast after your done. Good luck and please let me know how it works out.

I heard using cooking spray first will ease the cleaning. I will be trying this out this spring!

I need to do this with my daughter. We found several animal prints by the water also. One looked like a wolf print and pretty large at 3 1/2” wide and about 4” long. Their aren’t so suppose to be any Wolff in my area but all photos are a match. I’m wondering if dogs like husky and other may look the same though. We Also found a bobcat track, deer and some others.

@Freddiejgpritchard Plaster of Paris, you can get it at any hardware store. It's packaged in cartons just like a half gallon of milk would be.

Nice cast of a grizzly paw. I found this link from a rev. jeff BEN new clip. He said once that a can of tire sealant will work if you needed. I like the plaster because yor're out in the wild and could use it to make a cast for a broken arm or leg.

Very interesting video but I have a query if you can help please? I want to make some casts of my cats footprints that are embedded in cement. Sadly my cat passed away and the cement is soon to be covered up with a hearth. Will the plaster stick to the cement or can I use a barrier like vaseline to prevent this from sticking? Thanks in advance for any help with this!

If I put that mold into another pool of plaster, would it effectively create a concave mold? Would I need to use any type of lube in between? Thanks.

I've never tried it or heard of doing it that way. I would think it would take a few hours to dry if it worked and I would think it would be brittle once it dried. Plaster of Paris is really inexpensive, less than the cost of glue.

Have you ever used Dental Lab Stone (low psi) vs Hydrocal (medium psi) vs HydroStone (high psi)? Which is best and why?

Lonny Rabalais 4 minutes ago (edited) If you want the best, and the dry powder is heavy too look no farther than Hydrocal B-11. It is by far way more superior than plaster. When (cast) is totally dry, tap the topside with your knuckle. Hydrocal is so hard it sounds like your tapping a steel I beam! Also, I usually try and avoid extra spillage around the actual impression. It just looks more natural. When pouring, use your finger to gently pull casting material to the edges. Ultracal is great too !
