It needs to be said that Marta chose Gabby Douglas in 2016 over Mykayla, even though Mykayla finished 4th and Gabby finished 7th. Why? because she knew how Gabby would score internationally and how Mykayla would.

It was mainly due to the teams need being on bars while they were already stocked on vault and floor. They needed Gabby for bars and did not need Skinner for vault and floor much or any with Biles and Raisman already there.

I saw the entire video, and it was so much worse than the clips that were put out there. She just kept saying how everyone specifically at team camp, those on national team just are not hard workers anymore. She said when they were at team camp, they would just not do fall out routines all the time like they used to. She’s neglecting the whole fact about how there are older competitors now and they really have to watch how they practice to keep from having injuries. Mykayla was kept away from having injuries because as her coach has said many times, she was super inflexible. And because of this, she didn’t really have major injuries. But that’s not the case for the majority of gymnasts. So she thinks you can just go full out 1000% of the time, and that’s how it should be expected. She went on and said a bunch of other things, like pitying Leanne because she was put as a reserve, and talking about how bad it is, because she still has a huge chip on her shoulder it seems and, it really should have been celebrated because that’s a fantastic thing and you never know when you are going to have to go in. It has happened so many times, so why put a completely negative spin on it? We don’t need to make those people feel bad. And don’t forget talking about how if she would not have quit, she could’ve made the team because a few people got injured. And why are we saying the depth of the team is not as strong? Three people got injured and we still have a team that’s far above any other team right now. It was just bad. And not pronouncing Hezly’s name correctly over and over when Jonas was off camera constantly correcting her. “Hazly, or whatever her name is.” The whole thing just reeked of jealousy, which I totally get because yeah, she’s probably bummed she’s not getting to do it again and it’s going to be an adjustment, but maybe take a beat instead of spilling all your feelings all over the place before spouting off, a reaction video. You were not talking about your own club, you were talking about these specific girls because you were reacting to trials, and you kept mentioning these girls and how you were shocked, anyone could make the Olympics with falls. But just to fact, check that, in the last 50 years, on every single Olympic team that has been chosen, at least one person has fallen at trials. She said falls are just not that common and nobody makes the Olympic team as they fall. Gabby and Madison did in 2016, and she was there. If I remember correctly in 2021, Grace also fell, maybe not but I’m pretty sure she did, and Simone did as well. So like, just think for two seconds before you talk.

All Skinner did was make a valid observation about the USA women's gymnastics team as a whole (not Biles herself), and she has a leg to stand on as a former SILVER medalist! One thing I noticed myself in this Olympics, was that Biles, who was the oldest member of the team, essentially carried the entire squad. She WAS the team. They don't have the depth of talent they used to have. She is right about that. The hostility towards her for saying the quiet part out loud in my view is very revealing. They KNOW she has a point!

The comments were so unnecessary. I get it, we're sending out B team because so many top girls got injured right at trials. But to say they don't work hard is ridiculous. You don't get to the trials by not working your ass off. Am I a little concerned we might not get gold? Yes. But onward and upward. We can't go back and undo those injuries, so we just have to move forward. The fact we can even make a team that can contend for a medal given that many injuries is impressive. As far as the form issues, this isnt due to the Karolis. It's because the point system changed. This is a team made up of people who never competed elite under the perfect ten system, when you had to throw skills perfectly to win. Now you just need to throw the hardest skills adequately. The focus is different because you're rewarded differently. But that change has nothing to do with the karolis.

I think the same as you said, you don't get to Olympic trials without working your a.. off. But also even as sad as the 3 injuries are, we should question ourselves, the coaching systems and more... maybe that girls were overtrained and burnout. There's a point when you as a coach have to put a stop, it's a dream and that girl has work hard and you too. But you can't keep putting tape and expect miracles.. it's like putting band-aid and you need stitches. And what started as an injury can end up with a severe Injury with long recovery when the athlete is already depressed after losing the chance to qualify. A gymnast would always tell I can keep going. You're a coach, you know her you know when she can't period. And before the injury and the trials you also should know they need to rest. 3 gymnast in one trials is not coincidence. I hope they get well soon And this team is going strong! This girls are fighters that had to put extra to be there, they are gonna shine!

Let's be real, she is sour about how usag did her. For two cycles she was skipped over on Olympic trials and the gymnast behind her got put on the team. She was top five and they took gabby, she was top four and they put grace on the team. Then this year they chose the top five. That is where these comments are coming from. It's a defense mechanism and I think she earned the right to use it.

  • @LuckyCharmgirl247

No she didn’t. She’s been micro-aggressive for years and then tries to use the “oh I didn’t mean it like that, oh I’m was misunderstood.” Let’s be clear, Gabby was chosen over her in 2016 for multiple reasons one being she as raining AA Olympic champion, the second being because of her ability to perform on bars. Gabby scored third highest AA score that year behind Aly Raisman during qualifications but because of the two per country rule was disqualified. Same thing that happened the Jordyn Weiber the previous Olympic year. There is NO way MyKayla would have been in top 5 let’s be honest let alone top two. She then went on to photoshop her face on top of Gabby’s in the team photo… 🤔 Let’s fast forward to Tokyo. Let’s be honest she was an event specialist and didn’t make it to the finals. The ONLY reason she has a medal is because Simone Biles decided to withdraw. So, if she’s mad at USAG, take it out on them, not your peers and fellow athletes, especially ones who have come up through the Karolyi era… and ones who have suffered the atrocities that they have suffered such as Simone and Gabby. Why romanticize that horrific era in time? Also, it’s a different selection team…. Different athletes… maybe who’s to say next time they wouldn’t do the same and skip number 5 for 6? She needs to understand life isn’t always fair… but alas she’s a conservative white woman… she’ll hopefully willingly learn one day before she’s forced to learn.

I talk about my predictions in an upcoming video! You should subscribe to see it! Furthermore she is wrong for what she says not because the “quality” of the USA team is or isn’t lower than before. She’s wrong because her comments are based on the romanticism of a system that was actively abusing athletes. Winning at the sacrifice of children’s well being will always be wrong. And the romanticizing of a system that does that will also always be wrong. Better?!

Winning at the expense of young girls mental health isn’t worth it. 4 of the top US gymnasts also went down with injury either at or right before trials

It's simple, USA will not be as dominant as before because fear and discipline are no longer present!! Fear can be good that's why wars bring a lot of innovations in the shortest period!!
