I was diagnosed with MM a year ago. I'm getting ready for my stem cell transplant and the prognosis is very good according to my Doctors. Remission is much longer now than in 2015. Mine is stage one and was told I can go into remission for 10 to 25 years. Just have to keep up with my program. To all of you in the same boat, God bless you all.

I had it in 08, thal Dex for a year then marrow xplant....remission til about 2 months ago, now smoldering....in my 60s now, so will be harder now but newer meds coming so I have a good chance.....good luck to all

@@jeffreyhill3960 You will. I'm in remission after my transplant and treatments. All blood work says there's nothing there and I'm in a very good place and will keep at it. I'm 66. Don't give up I'm praying for you.

@@heru-deshet359 I'm glad to hear your transplant went well. My doctor made it sound like an absolute last resort. He said transplant requires a month in the hospital. I'm 67. May I ask what country you live in? I'm wondering if the doctor might be discouraging me from a transplant because of the cost? You said you were stage one. Is that the same as smoldering Myeloma? Did they try other treatments first before doing the transplant? Sorry for so many questions. Your reply to Jeffrey made me believe you someone who cares about others. Please pray for me too. Some nonsense comments below about 1. modern lifestyle and 2. alternative treatments. 1. The incidence of myeloma (one in 1500 people in a lifetime) is similar all around world but higher in East African men. It would be reasonable to expect that East African men would lead more natural lives than a 'modern' western lifestyle. In my own case, I've never smoked, have drunk little alcohol, never taken recreational drugs and have eaten mainly home cooked meals. 2. Speaking for myself, so far I have been fortunate enough to be living reasonably well 6 years and 9 months after diagnosis. A famous cricketer here is Australia was diagnosed in the same month and survived just over three years so each case is different. Reaching close to 7 years post diagnosis is a consequence of about three quarters of a million dollars of science based treatment (paid for mainly by Medicare which has operated in Australia since the mid 70s). Two drugs that I have had which no longer work are Velcade and Carfilzomib. The latter would be one of the drugs unnamed in the video. Drugs lose effectiveness as the cells which survive a treatment go on to reproduce resistant cells and the disease returns. I suspect one of the drugs unnamed in the video is Daratumumab which the Australian government will not fund due to the very high cost. That is unfortunate. Americans with health insurance can get it. Since the initial treatment and stem cell transplant in 2014, I have travelled three times to France, once to Hawaii, once to New Zealand and travelled domestically to Australia's far northern tropics and south to the Southern ocean islands. I also worked post transplant until retiring in July 2019. Without the drugs, I would never have met a lovely lady or lived to meet grandsons. So I am thankful for modern science based treatment. Time will tell if I am able to be sustained to and beyond 10 years.

Pray, stand on the promises of healing in God's word .. do research and look into Alternative forms of treatment.....

My sister in law has stage four ovarian cancer that metastasized . She was given four months to live. That was almost six years ago. She's been on natural herb and vitamin therapy during all this time. Although in some pain, her quality of life is better than being bed ridden in a hospital. Her doctors told her they don't know what she's doing, but to keep doing it.
