    I dont know what it is about fungi, but it is, hands down, the best hobby/passion i have ever gotten into. Growing them is just as much fun as identifying new species while out in the wild. Plus both goes hand in hand. Its just all around fascinating and rewarding. Also thanks for the insight of how you run stuff, always great to see and so much to learn.

    I grow a number of varieties of mushrooms. This is what I use at home. First for temp I use my garage and pick strains that will grow well during different seasons. I have 3 shelves in a closet where I incubate grain and substrate and grow agar plates and liquid culture. In my garage I have a Small clear grow tent 3x 2.5 with small grow light at the top. small humidifier with humidity control to keep at around 90%. My garage doesn’t go to far below 50 during winter so lots grey dove oyster, black pearl oyster, chestnut, Enoki, piopino. In spring I can grow the same plus blue oyster, shiitake, Mai take. Summer golden oyster, pink oyster, shiitake, mai take. There are a lot of of mushrooms that will incubate and grow in room temps on a table with plastic bags for humidity. Just keep log of temp ranges for different mushrooms and you won’t need to heat or cool.

    Grain spawn you should use the .2 micron, substrate .5 micron. You can use the .5 micron for both though, I preseal my grain bags with the .5 micron filters and pressure cook them sealed. Everyone is going to tell you it won't work, but it does lol, just make sure you tightly pack your PC if they have room to expand upon cooling the bags can explode. I have a loading technique for my PCs and I never have bags pop anymore.

  • @nicholasfrillman802
    @nicholasfrillman8022 жыл бұрын

    What level is your impulse sealer set to? All the way up, and mine melts straight through the plastic. What keeps happening to me when I lower it, is I seal it for 25 seconds, at 5 out of maximum (I think 7 or 8) and then when I open the impulse sealer off the presumably sealed bag, one small part of the otherwise perfectly sealed bag has stuck to the silicon element and ripped slightly, causing me to have to seal a corner of the bag again. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Is it possible that I damaged my silicon element with melted plastic and need to replace it? And yeah to reiterate, what level is your bag sealer set to?

    You can fruit from grain, the bulk substrate does have a nutritious element to it, but its mainly to hold a lot of moisture and it's cheaper than grain spawn. Mushrooms are 90% water so a substrate without a lot of water won't produce as good of a yield.

    Spores are usually contaminated with bacteria. Spores should put into sterilized water then sucked into a syringe and smear a couple of drops on agar plate. Different colonies will form. Some may be contamination. You then can take a tiny piece of the healthiest looking mycelium colony and put it in liquid culture. It’s the only way to be sure. And the mycelium will have different phenotypes but will all be the same strain.

    Hello my friend. Is there 500 ml of water and 2 teaspoons of dextrose in the medium for liquid micellar? Is there any other substance? Thanks in advance . Greetings from Turkey

    There's a tonne of LC mixes you can use, honey, Karo, malt, basically anything sugary will work. I like malt because that's what I use for my agar and it comes out fairly clear.

    The miracles of biology- the spores do not have any of a possibly banned chemical, until later growth.

    What is the ratio of liquid spawn to substrate?

    The LC goes into grain spawn first, then substrate, you can use as little as 1 ml for a 5lb bag of spawn, but the more LC the faster the colonization will be, I wouldn't go more than 10ml in a 5lb bag.
