Myanmar’s Chin state: Torture and rape allegations against the military, BBC finds | BBC News

A warning that some will find this report distressing.
Myanmar’s military junta government is facing an armed challenge to its rule in several parts of the country.
In the Chin state in the west of Myanmar, ethnic resistance groups have managed to push the military junta out of several areas near the country’s western border and battles are currently raging as they fight to gain control of more territory.
The BBC has had rare access to the state and has seen evidence of how the Burmese army have launched a campaign of torture, abduction and murder to stop youngsters from joining rebel fighters.
Myanmar’s military is yet to respond to the BBC’s questions about these allegations.
The BBC’s Yogita Limaye reports from western Myanmar.

Like someone somewhere remarked, prayer alone is not going to help but I feel for the refugees and innocent civilians displaced by war. In my humble opinion, refugees and displaced civilians fleeing or caught up in the civil war in Myanmar should be able to relocate and resettle over to the vast resourceful Australia & New Zealand in the Asia-Pacific region. In fact, around 90% of Australia/New Zealand are completely empty. Moreover, the vast majority of the population in Australia/New Zealand, tens of millions of Europeans were from all over Europe brought in over to the Asia-Pacific region. [For more, pls read the informative multi-page comments by 'Ms. Gregoria' at, "Myanmar remains in social and economic crisis since military seized power/BBC News": kzread.info/dash/bejne/aWSO0LOTdaW8pbg.html ]. Colonialism and Colonization are evil things done by evildoers. For instance, here in Singapore, a tiny island with 6 million souls lives like sardines in a can, elsewhere in nearby vast bountiful Australia which is ten thousand times 10,000 bigger with a mere 27 million inhabitants. A similar situation in tiny and packed Japan, which is running out of space and land. Do you know that their living room and bedroom are the same place, and that most Japanese people sleep in their living room? After all, ginormous resourceful Australia/New Zealand in the Asia-Pacific region are Asia-Pacific lands looted from Native Asians-Pacific people. Besides, there's hardly any Muslim, Hindu or Christian in Burma up until Anglo British Colonialism. I suppose it's fair to say that many of these tragedies that nation facing today, such as racial, ethnic and religious conflicts, started with Colonialism. Why not Myanmar's Muslim, Hindu and Christian population, if they wish, move to a place like Anglo Colonized vast bountiful Australia/New Zealand in the Asia-Pacific region? After all, these are Asia-Pacific lands looted from Native Asians-Pacific people. 😔🤷

Chin ethnics are thinking world leaders are helping them for their freedom to make their own country but it's they want a place from where they can counter China before they helping chin ethnics they asked for Bangladesh to give them Saint Martin Island for naval Base later Bangladesh refuse it and says we can't prompt clashes...after that Arakan province offered by America for Saint Martin, again refused by Bangladesh, Then said we want to build a new Chritian Majority country by taking few land from Bangladesh,India and Myanmar. Bangladesh again said no we can't agree on this matter....If USA planing this they i may worry about Chin ethnic minority groups who living alone Bangladesh,India,Myanmar beside that China also come front because this country will made for them to encounter.. Now I am worrying that Chin ethnic minority groups who are living alone side with this two Nuclear power country can they survived?? And more two country won't let it happen because they don't want share their land.... This planing whole cost will be paid by chin ethnic minority groups innocent people. USA can't just made another country by taking land from 4 countries and two of them Giant world power.... I am afraid about this chin ethnic minority groups in near future......

These minorities were conquered by Britain not Burmese. They were forcibly grouped under Burmese nation without their consent by Britain. The Pagan kingdom, Ava, Toungoo dynasty all had their kingdoms in the Irrawaddy delta you won't find a trace of Burmese Archaeology or influence especially in Chin state. If they could survive as independent entities for centuries before Britain what's stopping them from demanding independence from this never ending tyrannical rule. The Chin or Zo lands were divided into Myanmar, India and Bangladesh by the retreating British. They have a state in India as well (Mizoram) plus large populations in other Northeast Indian states. If freedom from repression is bad then Vietnam, India or African countries should never have fought for independence
