My Yellow Scooter
On August 10th 2021 I left Montreal with my beloved yellow Honda Helix scooter. I felt I was getting too comfortable back home. I had been to 30+ countries, but never solo travelled. All out of this irrational fear of being alone. My heart was telling me to go figure myself out, see my brother and begin creating videos for myself again.

Wow you are a great film maker ,my partner died recently, now I am a solo scooter rider at the grand old age of 70 your film inspired me.Regards from the Uk .
What a pearl! Came for the Honda and remained until the end for the journey.
I'm in the states down in Ohio, a few years back I picked up a white 1987 Helix. The Honda dealer here says mine was actually made for the Canadian market, the dash panel is labeled "Fatten" instead of Helix and the odometer reads in kilometers. They claim they are rare and they hadn't seen one in person. That said, it's a Helix and they can get around! I'm not sure how many "Fattens" were made or much of anything else.
Stumbled onto your video. Thanks for showing 20,000 people that there is such a thing as quality content on KZread.
This is easily in my top 5 list of best KZread videos ever... Thank you for sharing it with us. If you see a beat up red Helix on the road someday, maybe it's me!
Julian - what a great and inspiring movie. I stumbled across it by accident, having dived down a Honda Helix wormhole. I watch a lot of motorcycle video (including many of my own), and yours is one of the most enjoyable I've encountered. You really deserve far more exposure than your 2.4k KZread views indicates. Perhaps some TV station could air it - it's that good IMHO. Good luck with whatever you are doing, but if you're not making movies (and riding the Helix) it's the world's loss. Stay well. Nick.

Nick what a sweet comment. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. I am definitely not going to stop making films:) just starting to take this KZread thing more seriously and see where that takes me. As for the Helix, it's waiting for me back in Canada. I miss that thing!! Cheers, Julian

Top stuff Julian too much to say really wonderful editing and story been on some long journey your like one of them rare unique people that I meet when backpacking the sort u never forget. Perfect film😇
i got a beatass 1986 junker helix for 450$ about 6 years ago, mainly as a joke because it was so weird looking and i work at a biker bar and thought it would be funny having it parked amidst all the harleys. the joke was on me because i fell in love with the thing and ride it all the time and am now fully in the helix cult. the reliability of these machines is legendary, they are immortal.
I’ve Been so stagnant in my film making recently and this is what has truly reignited the spark. Thank you.
I spent some 20+ years of my life writing and producing both public and commercial television here in the States, and this, sir, is as fine a piece of filmmaking as I have seen in quite some time. I, too, am a scooter rider -- a pair of Vespas -- and like one fellow who commented below, I'm now 70, and I ride solo (my partner doesn't ride). There may will be a Helix in my future. (Why else would I have fallen down the KZread Helix rabbit hole?!). You take care of that beautiful, faithful yellow scooter, Julian, 'cause she sure took care of you. Thanks for a most enjoyable video.
You meet the nicest people on a Honda😊
"Don't think just drop" from the guy with the obliterated collar bone lolol. Great video. I'm very glad the Helix rabbit hole led me here.
I love that scooter. And it’s nice to still see one around in that condition. I’ve got two. A 650 Burgman Executive and a Honda 250 Elite. They can laugh all they want. I’m having the most fun you can get with your clothes on. On cheap reliable machines that sip gas and barely ever break down.
Oh, Julian, dude, what a freaking awesome documentary you made, man! I shared it with my Honda Helix crew here in Argentina. It's seriously mind-blowing and incredible, the way you captured not just the essence of the journey, the scenery, but also the vibes of all of us riding these beautiful bikes. Massive props, bro, and thanks for sharing it with us! Big hug!
I‘m just commenting to prove that I’ve been following you when you had 938 followers when you‘ll have a million. Dude, please don’t stop making these. You‘re getting better with each video, and they‘re already 💯👌🙏

im here with this idea i cant get out of my mind ,,,, much respect !!!
I've had many adventures on bikes from the Elite 250 (similar to yours) up to the Gold Wings. My best adventures have always been on scooters. You made an awesome video friend. People long to do such but never do it. They watch videos like yours to fulfill their fantasies. Then those of us that have enjoy watching it in remembrance of our own and feel joy for you. Thank you for posting and doing an awesome job of editing!!!!!
fascinating production.. the xperience.. the music.. everything.. thanx for sharing and stay safe for God's sake 🙏 🛵👍
Wow, great storytelling. Thanks from Seattle.
Absolutely loved your documentary! I found this while looking for "slow ride home" and I'm glad I did. I got myself a yellow scooter and live in Canada also. You did an amazing job of documenting your journey and inspiring many. Thank you for sharing this!
Hi Julian, The way you present your story it's amazing. The script, cinematography, color grading, typo everything was so perfect. I'm glad found your video. Thank you for sharing your story with us. I also ride a small scooter (Honda ADV 150) but I didn't do any long solo but maybe now I will.

I just found this video today... Came down to the comments to see if anyone felt the same about this sweet movie.
Man I am so envious but so happy that you had this experience! A yellow Helix is my dream bike! They look like a wave runner on wheels lol I love it. The only problem is I've never ridden and frankly I'm afraid to ride a big 250cc as a starter bike..

Don't be afraid. I have owned several small motorcycles, but my Honda Helix (yellow like in the video) is the easiest one to ride. Even though I am only 5 ft 6 inches tall, both feet fit flat on the ground. There are no gears to shift - just twist the throttle and it goes. The weight is low to the ground so easy to balance. It has enough power to easily keep up with in town traffic and can be ridden on the highway up to 70 mi/h. It is the ideal scooter. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your inspirations. Chapeau 🎩. Stay healthy and thanks to Honda 😅. Greetings from germany ... Christoph 👋 👋 👋 👋 👋

so nice of you thanks for watching!
What a beautiful video. I recognize a lot from when me and three friends crossed the US in six weeks. In the saddle you are always alone with your thoughts. A lot happened in my mind on that trip, and I changed my life because of it. On Sunday I’m buying a Helix btw. That’s what led me here. And I’m very grateful for that.

cant believe the level of quality in your filmmaking and storytelling. amazing video, you def deserve more subs
The editing is on point ! :)...hope to see something new soon!
Wonderfully put together video. You have captured the essence of motorcycle touring at it's heart....wonderful solitude, the feeling of self dependency, and the appreciation of the motorcycle itself and the wonderful roads ridden. At 80 now, having toured for over 65 years with several million km's under my belt, this video brings back fabulous memories of my own trips in years past. Although I still ride, I am restricted to day trips only due ot my wife being somewhat infirm, and it's good to watch this and have those old feelings come back. Thank you so much for your video. It's not the size of the bike but the quality of the ride that counts....
Amazing video, I have a Honda Helix. I have ridden it many miles but not on such a long trip. Fantastic to pull that off at this stage in your life. One hundred thumbs up.
well done brother, I really liked the roadmovie vibe. Beautiful
Such a great and beautiful insite into your life and the great journey you and you kickass little yellow scooter went on. Some year id love to go on a soul seeking journey myself either on my vtx or a helix. I envy you brother. But family and children put a halt on it. But maybe when im 50 or so.. ill be free to make the journey. Be proud of what youve done and i look forward to seeing more adventures.
Amazing storytelling bro
Increíble viaje, me emocionó! sigue creciendo hermano, saludos desde Barcelona!

Awesome, thank you. I'm on my 2nd Helex.
Very good edit, very good video. And I saw my dreams. Thank you.
I have a yellow 04 Helix which I have taken on many long trips, but nothing that compares with your journey. Nice job! Great video.
Such a great Video. I Cant believe it only has so few views.
Great video!!! I understand falling in love with these things, I'm older so I fell for them when they first came out decades ago but never did get one. I applaud you for doing what you wanted to do. Good luck to you and God Bless! BTW: Didn't get the Helix but at 67 just bought my first scooter (2005 Suzuki 400).
wtf this is so good it should have way more views
Awesome editing. It must have taken as much time to edit this as it did to ride. Well done work!
Great video man, everything about it is awesome! i happened upon it because of a yellow Helix for sale close to me with 8,000 miles. I want to travel my country as well and what a simple great machine to do it on. Thankyou for the video!!
Très beau...bon rythme, belle photo, bonne musique, bon propos...inspirant !

Great video
Cheers!
Great video Julian. Cheers from Victoria, BC.. ...(formerly Muskoka, Ontario)
You are my favorite filmmaker.
Great music!
I picked up an old Suzuki Burgman 650 and did some touring in the Black hills this last fall. I can identify with some of the things you talk about. Exploration journeys at a little slower pace it's pretty cool.
I loved this video.👍
